Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump -- who said he has a concealed carry permit -- called for the expansion of gun rights Friday, including making those permits applicable nationwide. In a position paper published on his website Friday afternoon, Trump called for the elimination of gun and magazine bans, labeling them a "total failure."
"Law-abiding people should be allowed to own the firearm of their choice. The government has no business dictating what types of firearms good, honest people are allowed to own," Trump wrote.
It's not a departure from what he's said on the trail this year, though it does mark a shift from a position he took in his 2000 book "The America We Deserve," where Trump stated that he generally opposes gun control but that he supported a ban on assault weapons and a longer waiting period to get a gun.
"Opponents of gun rights try to come up with scary sounding phrases like 'assault weapons', 'military-style weapons' and 'high capacity magazines' to confuse people," Trump wrote Friday. "What they’re really talking about are popular semi-automatic rifles and standard magazines that are owned by tens of millions of Americans."

Methinks the author needs some remedial Civics classes: Permits != Rights.
‘Bout the only ‘expansion’ that is required is the ABOLITION of any/all gun ‘control’ laws.
DC proper is a simple matter - too simple, it appears, for Congress to figure out on their own:
“The Congress shall have the power...To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the Acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States”
DC reciprocity for all 50 states should be passed IMMEDIATELY when President-elect Trump is sworn in.

Courtrooms full of armed people would be as dangerous as Gun Stores and Gun Shows full of armed people.
“Brandishing” is CONDUCT. Like “murder” is CONDUCT, not an unconstitutional restriction on ownership (”keeping”) and carrying (”bearing”).
Then there’s this:
“Brandishing” laws sound cool until you realize that you can be “guilty” under them if someone sees the item’s outline under your clothes. Makes as much sense as “drunk driving” laws which scoop up people sleeping it off in the back seats of their parked cars. I was shocked when I heard that’s a real thing.
Full Faith and Credit shall be given in each State to the public Acts, Records, and judicial Proceedings of every other State. And the Congress may by general Laws prescribe the Manner in which such Acts, Records and Proceedings shall be proved, and the Effect thereof.
If judges and justices followed the Constitution this would be fait accompli and legislation would be unnecessary.

We ought to be able to drive across the USA without worrying about violating the patchwork of gun laws in each state we cross.
Let’s go at this the same way the left does. We take a step in the right direction, then we take the next step.

That’s why concealed carry is, and must be, a state issue and any such law passed by Congress should be overturned on 10th Amendment grounds”
Actually, no.
The second amendment is not a state issue. It is entirely within the federal jurisdiction to not allow constitutional rights to be limited by states.
States may try to pass laws to limit concealed carry (and they have) but it is not constitutional for them to do so.
While we’re at it, disarm all government agencies that have no business having weapons.
Yep. More of a right to carry than the left believing health care is a right. But they are such hypocrites. Babies in the womb they deny the right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. The ultimate denial of health care . . . they kill them instead.
i hope this becomes a federal issue again so states like California cant pull the crap they’re doing now. Im all for states rights but the right to bear arms is a constitutional right and states shouldn’t be able to put restrictions on the constitution

If marriage in one state is recognized in all states, and a driver’s license in one state is recognized in all states, then why not a CCW?
Because you seem to be suggesting a principles based remedy for a problem that arose from the rejection, or at least diminution, of principles.
