Christie replaced by Pence as leader of Trump transition

Gov. Christie has been replaced by vice president-elect Mike Pence as the chairman of Donald Trump’s White House transition team.

Christie is now a vice chairman of the team, along with former House speaker Newt Gingrich, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, former Republican presidential hopeful Ben Carson, and U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions, the team announced Friday.

In addition to the governor’s replacement, two Christie confidants who were on the transition team -- Rich Bagger, a former Christie chief of staff, and Bill Palatucci, a longtime adviser -- will return to the private sector. Bagger and Palatucci will still remain as advisers to the team.

The team – which also announced an executive committee that includes three of Trump’s children and his son-in-law, among others – “will build on the initial work done under the leadership of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to help build a transformative government ready to lead from day one,” Trump said in a statement.

The team didn’t disclose why Pence replaced Christie.

I think it’s a great switch since Pence will have to be dealing with some of these people for years as VP. Might as well get in the thick of it now.

I saw some blowback about Christie, that he was bringing Bushie and Romney types onboard. That got changed PDQ.

It looks like a great team. Just yesterday, I was wondering where LTG Flynn might fit in. I met him while he was still active duty--he is a really sharp man. And he understands the foreign challenges for the US.

I personally am glad Christie has been eased out sine I don’t find him to be trustworthy. Pence is GREAT!

I wondered if the conviction of Christie assistants would hurt him.

Apparently, someone thought it would. At a minimum, they wanted to avoid the appearance of evil. That was one of the reasons for the departure of Paul Manafort, although Kelly Ann Conway was the right choice to lead the portion of the Trump campaign that she led.

Two people who should not be on Trumps list are Christie and Corker, both RINOs.

Pence proved he was a steady, passionate force who read conservative principles to perfection. His years as a talk radio host gave him communication skills that will make the case for our movement. I thank God we have him.
