California voters approved a ballot measure Tuesday that bans the possession of large-capacity magazines, requires the California Department of Justice to maintain a list of all residents authorized to purchase ammunition and prohibits Californians from purchasing ammo without first obtaining the agencys authorization.

One implemented, the ballot measure will ban the possession of large-capacity ammunition magazines, regardless of when they were purchased. Current California law already bans the possession of such magazine but has an exemption for magazines purchased before the year 2000.
Prop. 63 will also require all ammo purchasers to first obtain a $50 permit from the California DOJ. The state government will now be required to keep tabs on who is or isnt authorized to purchase ammunition.

USSC has already ruled that ammo is a integral part of a firearm and can not be seen as separate.
(Bleep!) them all.
SMUGGLE (It’s a time-honored American tradition.)
Yet another reason for patriots to evacuate from California.
Then California compliance should be at the peril of any Federal Government funding if they do not comply.
happen to have heard one BIG sporting goods merchant mention that over half its national sales right now are mail orders into Californication
(and CA is only 10+ percent of USA population)
but anyway its an illegal “law” and will be amazing if it gets even 2 percent compliance
Build a wall and keep their vermin in.
Completely unenforceable, but that’s not the point is it?
Just in time for their separation from the Union.
Like virtually all of the virtue signaling pushed by the liberal/socialist/democratic left the real impact will be minimal.
I wonder how long it will take for ammo stands to appear on the Nevada side of the California-Nevada state line. Still remember all of the fireworks stands on the Alabama-Florida state line when you couldn’t buy fireworks legally in Florida. Think about tobacco stands on all of the Indian reservations as an other example of failed virtue signaling.
“Completely unenforceable, but thats not the point is it?”
There is talk about using the State’s Agricultural Inspection Stations to search for contraband ammunition. Carried to the extreme, they would also put up roadblocks on secondary roads not having these inspection stations to search for ammo.
“Build a wall and keep their vermin in.”
Why don’t you direct that comment personally to Jim Robinson who lives in Fresno, CA. I’m sure he will take a very dim view of your assertion that he’s “vermin.” I know I do! Nice to know that you lump all of us here in California into the “vermin” category!
I didn't. I just suggested you take responsibility for your own varmints instead of sending them elsewhere.
Indeed it is better than I hoped. I read this morning that there is a Trump supporter in Woodside. Things are looking up.
not only are Californians stocking up MASSIVELY in their second amendment equipment and supply departments (long lines at CA stores, almost every semi-auto firearm, whether pistol or rifle, sells nearly as fast as its put on display, ammo being ordered in very large crate-load quantities from major vendors all over USA, private trucks and vehicles reportedly flooding the highways into CA with thousands of tons of supplies for sale ‘off the books’...etc etc etc)
but...
this illegal new ammo rule
won’t even “go into effect” for another year
by which time it will surely be overruled or overturned.
WHAT I THINK:
I think there is still a big effort needed to educate portions of the American public...why we have constitutionally-protected individual rights in this country..... there seem to be all too many people who are willing or even desirous of shedding their liberties....
Won’t survive judicial review... libs wasting their time on this nonsense.
I hope someone challenges this in court immediately!
“I didn’t. I just suggested you take responsibility for your own varmints instead of sending them elsewhere.”
Yes , you did! Walling off California would affect everyone here, not just those you refer to as “vermin.” It’s actually the kind of comment that comes from someone who doesn’t really face the reality of what’s going on in our country. It’s a form of “racism,” wherein you seek to perpetuate the kind of slice and dice attacks on our country that were promulgated by Obola. You are unwilling to see that what has happened in California, the state that gave the country Ronald Reagan, will happen the country over unless we all work together to fix it. 40% or more of Californians don’t like what’s happened here either. So to lump us all under the banner of “vermin” shows us all just how ignorant or intolerant you are.
Pace! This was meant humorously and I regret that it was not taken as such since I mean no offense. I actually lived in CA when Reagan was president and have lot of business dealings there. I have a pretty good sense of what goes on there and a lot of nostalgia for the place as it used to be. And now I live in DC so I am drowning in our local swamp.
This will be struck down, they better not try this shit in my state
I often drive through the inspection stations, and they usually wave you through without even talking to you. And if they do stop you, they ask if you have any fruit, they don’t search for it. So, again, completely unenforceable. They will not be searching any vehicles for ammo. That is not the point of the law.
