A petition on Change.org calling for the Electoral College to elect Hillary Clinton as President has earned over half of the signatures needed for it to be sent to the governing body.
The petition, launched on Wednesday after Donald Trump was elected President, calls for the Electoral College to ignore their states votes and cast their ballots for Secretary Clinton.
Although Trump won over the 270 necessary electoral votes to secure the Presidency, Clinton narrowly earned the nations popular vote.
The Electoral College which was first introduced in 1804 is comprised of 538 electors. Each states number of electors is decided by its number of members in Congress, which is dependent on the states population. So, when American citizens cast their ballots, they arent directly voting for president theyre voting for electors. This year, Trump took 279, to Clintons 228.

Someone is really itching for a fight they will be overcome by.
probably 499,999 Democrats and Glen Beck
59,937,338 living and eligible citizens represented by 30 states with 306 Electoral votes and owning the means to defend themselves and their country, cast ballots on Election Day for the Electoral College to pick President Trump. It would be prudent for the Electors to follow their mandate.
He has 290 electoral.
This is like the brats who tried to have a 2nd BREIXT vote. What a bunch of spoiled brats.
No. They don't. All they teach is Howard Zinn. Trust me. I know because I have a daughter in high school, and I am appalled at the indoctrination they dump on these kids in American history class.
I helped her get through her junior year class by working closely with her on her assignments. She learned to research counter arguments and write papers disagreeing with the teacher. Fortunately, even though he is a big Howard Zinn disciple, he gave her straight "A"s because she made such good arguments and backed them up with research. I'm very happy she had that experience, because it taught her to think and how to separate the BS from actual facts. But unfortunately, the other students don't have Freeper dads. So she is pretty much the only Trump supporter in her whole school. She voted for the first time on Tuesday, and was very psyched to vote for Trump.
We watched the election results together, and she learned a ton about the EC and the process, none of which she would have learned had she been left to the indoctrination progam of her school without me to give her the other side.
Only by a few, but 4 million voted for her in NY and CA alone, so that’s not surprising. That’s why we always urged conservatives in CA to vote even if they feel it’s a lost cause.

There should be a law that people this stupid shouldn’t be allowed to vote.

I heard there was a million to nothing vote dump at around 4 am.Not sure of the veracity of that.
500,000 illegals that are now going to get exported back to their homeland !
These people are painfully stupid.
It’s possible and has happened before. Remember Al Gore claimed the popular vote in 2000 but Bush got the electoral votes.
The reason you can win more individual votes is that the electoral votes are based on Congressional Districts mainly and Congress froze the number of districts some years ago. Therefore, districts (and electoral votes) are rearranged regularly according to census data, even shifting from one state to another. Large population states have districts which represent many more individual voters per district compared to lower population states. As am example, Idaho has a population of approximately 1.6 million and four electoral votes. That works out to one vote per around 425,000 people. California, on the other hand, has a population of nearly 40 million and 55 electoral votes, which works out to one electoral vote per 715,454 voters.

But they also will provide this liberal hope:
"And the system technically allows the electors to hijack the result, since it is not certain the electors will vote the way their state does.
Although around 30 of the 50 states have passed laws that mean their electors must vote according to the popular vote in their state the punishment for not doing so is can merely be a fine. This means they could potentially defy the electorate's choice." http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-elections/electoral-college-how-does-it-work-us-election-day-2016-states-votes-donald-trump-hilalry-clinton-a7404086.html
Who is Howard Zinn?
Sore losers. Liberals are like whiny spoiled brats - they have to have their way or they throw a tantrum.
500,000 idiots have never read, or if they have, do not understand the Constitution. obviously products of our “superior” education system.
Meant to say one electoral vote per 715,454 individuals, not voters.
