How Did Hillary Clinton Screw This Up? For Starters, Her Advertising Was All Wrong

So where did Hillary Clinton go wrong? Other than, well, being Hillary Clinton -- a widely disliked and distrusted candidate?
Ad Age Editor Ken Wheaton just asked me if I thought Donald Trump's triumph is about "traditional advertising and millions in spending being useless."
My short answer: Actually, no.
My longer answer is that, while Donald Trump obviously benefited from an unprecedented level of free media coverage, which convinced him for much of the race that he didn't need to waste money on ads, in the end Team Trump did, in fact, plow a ton of money into advertising -- and it cunningly, strategically outperformed tone-deaf Team Clinton.
To put that another way, Clinton badly screwed up her ad game.

Hillary was like the poker player who was dealt 3 Aces and couldnt improve her hand.Hillary was like the poker player who was dealt 1 ace, had two in her sleeve, and still couldn't improve her hand.

To me, that was the most annoying Hillary ad in her rotation. I wish I found it funny, but all it did was put my teeth on edge. I hated that mom something fierce.

I wonder what the ‘real’ numbers are once you take out Philly and Detroit voter fraud.

From the article:
I specifically cited one of the Clinton camp's most praised -- and most heavily budgeted -- ads, titled "Role Models," which showed innocent little children watching Donald Trump say nasty things on TV, before serving up a tagline: "Our children are watching. What example will we set for them?" When I saw the ad, my first thought was "my children learned the terms 'oral sex" and 'BJ' beczause of Clinton's husband. What a F'n hypocrite."
To: Auntie Mame
The Dem Party “screwed up” when they made her their nominee.
To: Auntie Mame
Clinton kept showing the bad things Trump said during breakfast and dinner. SHE was a bad example of taking a few bad things and repeating them in front of children ad nauseum. I hated her MORE than before for doing that.

The ad copy writers had a problem
They were given a sow’s ear and asked to sell a gold clasped silk purse

One of approximately two hundred thousand hillary post-mortems we’ll be seeing for the foreseeable future.
To: Yaelle
Yep. Calling us Americans deplorables was the best thing she did. To even read it off a prompter, she is more stupid than peat moss. She needed independent votes too, and that wasnt the way. I cannot wrap my head around why she did this. And not once, but twice that we know of. It could have been more. It defies logic.

The huge ads “I’m with her” everywhere were a bit much, especially showing her nose hair in super closeup form..

Thank you ZeeStephen! Your observation about the 107 thousand votes in three states is the smartest thing in this very interesting thread!

Regarding the “children are watching” ads. This ad exposed Clinton for the hypocrite she is. The children were also watching during the Jay Z concert where every other word out of his mouth was......well, you know. Far worse than some locker room talk many years ago!

Kids voted heavily for trump in Middle School and High School elections accross the country. They werent fooled and they watch tv more than all of us.
My daughter's school was closed on Election Day, so I took off work to be with her. After voting, I took her for a round of laser tag. There were 30 of us there: middle-aged me, elementary aged daughter, and 28 teenagers from two different birthday parties. You pick a screen name for the game, and the teenagers were picking names like Donald Trump, Vote For Trump, and (my personal favorite) Heartless Hillary. And as we entered into the arena, they were chanting "Trump! Trump! Trump!" I kid you not.
If young teenagers were allowed to vote, Trump would have easily won my county, if not my entire state.
Maybe we ought to let kids vote when they turn 12, take it away from them between ages 18 and 22 (when they're most at risk of "higher education" indoctrination), then give it back after that.
