Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell hinted Wednesday that he doesnt support the controversial idea of changing Senate rules to kill Democratic filibusters, and instead indicated that this move might be seen as an overreach by Republicans.
When Democrats ran the Senate, they changed the rules to allow for simple majority votes for judicial nominees, but not Supreme Court nominees, which can still be filibustered. But despite speculation that Republicans will take this next step, McConnell indicated some resistance to it when asked.
He said overreaching after an election, generally speaking, is a mistake. And when pressed on McConnells approach to working with Democrats in the new Senate, McConnell said the way the chamber is structured requires some Democratic participation and cooperation.

Doing so would mean going against the pretense of two parties.
Keep the filibuster but make it a real filibuster: you hold the floor only as long as you talk, no breaks, no other Senate business.
You are right. Trump needs to point out the DC uniparty nonsense at every opportunity and make these guys do fulfill their purpose.
“Its not a binding commitment. Its fine to take a diplomatic approach for the short term, while we see how this plays out.”
It’s a card laid is a card played! He’s such and open book POS, always telegraphing his actions prior to taking them.
Flashback to Trent Lott, “power-sharing” demands, Senators Jumping to the other party to give Dems equal power, media coming out demanding reaching across the aisle, reaching out. Ugh. Not again. People deliver the power but so far the GOP never uses it because they want to appear gentile. When Dems win they just say, “We won, you lose, pound sand.”
This is where Diamond and Silk would be very good. Start doing 5-10 minutes every week. On issues what needs to be done and why it is not getting done
These guys cant be trusted clean house now
The traitor-to-their-electorate gope quislings need to be destroyed and eliminated if they don’t support Trump.
May I remind you he just went against the establishment of both parties and the msm. HE WON AGAINST ALL THREE.
McConnell needs to go. Trump can make it happen.
All two. Or, really, all one.
McConnell leading the charge FOR the Democrats again. Its not weakness, its subversion.
Its the same crap by the same people we saw when the GOPe worked to defeat and marginalize the Tea Party.
THAT’S EXACTLY THE TYPE OF COWARDLY BEHAVIOR THAT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE JUST REBELLED AGAINST, AND MCCONNELL STILL DOESN’T GET IT.

I don’t think this was unexpected by Trump. They know Ryan and McConnell were going to be problems. I hope Gingrich has a strategy for Trump to run over them.
Trump voters need to start relentlessly calling Ryan and McConnell and demand they support him. Put pressure on these two clowns.
you just need 51 votes

Democrats would not hesitate to do this. Unlike Republicans, they play to win.
McConnell needs to go. Trump can make it happen.

Totally agree. Trump needs to find a way to remove him. We cannot allow the Turtle to obstruct Trump’s agenda.
Of course they should nuke the filibuster. That’s the way the Dems play and for the GOP to surrender with a less than equally tough approach back is inexcusable—unless you are uniparty stooges like the GOP congressional leadership.
McConnell is a fool and a complete loser. Not the kind of person you want on your team. Trump has to find a way to work around him and render him irrelevant.
