The polls have closed and the electoral firewall Hillary was banking on to prevent the Barbarian from crashing the gates and taking over
Results are all over the place. She's up. She's down. It's too close to call.
I'm flashing back to game seven in Cleveland last week, when the Cubs had a three-run lead.
Nate Silver: "We're in a state of suspended animation right now . . . no major state has fallen to Clinton."
"Uh-oh. I'm starting to feel panic set in."
My editor's pacing around in a state of terror.
Texts are now pouring in from friends and relatives: "I'm nervous. I'm feeling sick. I may vomit."
To make it worse, exit polls say that more than 50 percent of white women voted for him.
A cry from down the hall. Another editor has discovered that FiveThirtyEight updated its projection and Trump has a 55 percent chance of winning.
The Republicans control everything. There are no checks and balances.
Trump will fill Scalia's vacancy and all the judicial vacancies.
What does this mean for the press? He despises the press. His supporters joke about lynching reporters.
I get a text from my Bernie bro telling me that Trumpsters are jubilant.
I'd like to crack a joke. I haven't felt this much political gloom and doom since the Reagan landslide of 1980.
But this may be worse. Reagan at least offered hope.
Trump is dark and mean and foreboding. Always talking about locking people up. Or beating them up. Or investigating his opponents and punishing his enemies.
Hold it. Clinton takes Colorado. The firewall. But Ohio goes to Trump. And Wisconsin and Michigan and Pennsylvania are leaning his way.
It could come down to Arizona and Alaska. Home of McCain and Palinthe 2008 ticket.
This is surreal.

Well, unlike liberals, conservatives don’t physically or emotionally attack people with whom they disagree.
Build a wall around it and leave them to devour each other.
Only Suckers Beef. Go suck your thumb in the corner. As Trump’s predecessor said: “I won. Elections have consequences.”
Chicago afraid of red state America. That’s rich.
They shouldn’t worry...they keep murdering each other there. Eventually, there will only be 1 person left.
So, is this author in fact Pajama Boy?
Chicago - the colostomy bag of Illinois.
How childish. Chicago is on the verge of financial disaster.
Crime is 100% increased this year.
Population of middle class leaving Illinois.
Yeah, sure see a problem with rad America,
The old reputation of being a war torn battleground still applies, too.
Move to the South Side of Chicago and get back to us in four years.
Being the murder capital of America isn’t a frightening reality. Being a financial basket case isn’t a frightening reality. Having massive unfunded pension liabilities isn’t a frightening reality. But being a “blue” city in a “sea of red” is.
A sequel to the movie “Escape from New York” set in Chicago?!
Good idea!
not to worry, Chicago. with your ‘gun control laws’... you are rapidly eliminating your population (at least, you’re eliminating all your good people...obviously your gangsters and thugs and IslamONazi terrorists will all stay heavily armed... all you’re doing is interferring with the ability of your good honest citizens to defend themeselves...which transforms ChiTown into one big Free Fire Zone for the criminals and Moslem enemy)
give it a few more years and your Island in the middle of America will get smaller and smaller and smaller and soon will sink (or capsize?) and that will be that.
meawhile, anyone with any good sense is avoiding spending any time in your once-great city.
If Trump takes quick action to shut down the street shootings and killings in Chicago he can steal the Chicago black vote from the democrats.
We can give Chicago to Ontario and add the Yukon to Alaska.
Or instead of Yukon we can take Alberta or Saskatchewan
If you're gonna dream, dream big
Oh, that was a joke?
My niece in law lives in Chicago declared this morning that she was ready to pack her bags and leave the country. Knew she wasn’t fond of Trump, but to such an open declaration of hate. I was stunned. I also know she cannot afford to move down the street, never mind another country. Lol
Nope. Republicans do not have a Super Majority but, we do have a majority. For many issues, the Democrats can filibuster. Still, for others, Republicans only need a simple majority.
Trump will fill Scalia's vacancy and all the judicial vacancies.
Yes he will and at least two other seats by simple majority which, Republicans control.
What does this mean for the press? He despises the press. His supporters joke about lynching reporters.
Trump is the most savvy person when it comes to the press and he actually likes them and he can play them. No one is going to be lynched.
I get a text from my Bernie bro telling me that Trumpsters are jubilant.
We should be excited and Jubilant. If you won, you would be as well.
I'd like to crack a joke. I haven't felt this much political gloom and doom since the Reagan landslide of 1980.
Really? Seems to me the United States flourished through Reagan, the world was finally freed of the USSR and many concentration camps, operating as Soviet Satellite States, were finally freed.
But this may be worse. Reagan at least offered hope.
I feel hopeful.
Trump is dark and mean and foreboding. Always talking about locking people up. Or beating them up. Or investigating his opponents and punishing his enemies.
You fear someone who will take no guff from anyone. You wanted some pushover. That's gotta be tough.
