Important note to President-elect Donald Trump:
Right now, the laws for Americans to renounce their citizenship, move to another country, and take up their new countries’ citizenship, have been toughened up considerably. The entire process may take a year or more, with no outstanding complications.
Instead, it should be streamlined, to the point of being easy.
Renunciation currently is, and should remain, permanent.
However, with just a few weeks preparation, to insure there are no outstanding warrants or civil litigation pending, that there are no outstanding debts or contracts remaining, and that all appropriate taxes have been paid, American citizens should be able to easily leave the United States and its territories for good.
Once in their new homeland, and when they have received new citizenship papers from their new nation, they should be able to surrender their passport and any US licenses to the US embassy in that nation, or foreign embassy providing embassy services to the US, and that will be the end of it.
They will no longer be required to pay taxes on future earnings outside the United States, nor will they be subject to US laws unless they venture into an area reserved as US territory, such as embassies, US ships and US flagged aircraft.
Maybe they should get in touch with Robin Williams' travel agent.

Moving to our neighbor to the north isn’t so easily — or cheaply — accomplished, however, especially if you’re not heading there as a student or with a job offer in hand. Nor will it accomplish much in avoiding a new president’s policies, if you want to retain American citizenship.
I hate that Jen Lawrence is such a moonbat (she must’ve been enraged to see all but Louisville and Lexington voting for Trump in her native KY. Even Frankfort (!) voted for Trump, and it’s chock full of state worker parasites).
