I've bashed Silver the hardest, but he did give Trump better odds than everyone else, who had him at 1.8%, 8% and 16%. He even wrote on Twitter early in the morning of November 8 that he thought Trump had a 1-in-3 chance of winning.

in fairness to Silver, he has been cautious, and never ruled out a Trump victory. I think he is ore devoted to his data than partisianship. And he quickly saw how things were going tonight.

I think he is generally reliable. He had a Trump victory as more likely than other analysts.

The polls missed it. Just like Brexit. I think Silver responded properly.

I thought nate did a fair job, he didn’t come up with the poll numbers that were put into his model.
If anything his model was more generous to Trump than the other major ones.
The model was a reasonable theory, live and learn.

Would be interesting to study why IBD was so much more accurate than other polls though.
