A man who pleaded guilty to puncturing a fire hose being used during the riots in Baltimore last year has been ordered to pay $1 million in restitution.
Twenty-two-year-old Gregory Lee Butler Jr., also known as Greg Baly, was ordered to serve three years of probation and to perform 250 hours of community service. The Baltimore Sun reported that the government sought a 33-month prison sentence.
U.S. District Judge J. Frederick Motz also sentenced Butler to time served on Thursday. Prosecutors say Butler twice punctured a fire hose as firefighters were battling an arson blaze at a CVS drug store on April 27, 2015.

Why do I suspect this money will not be paid?
Gotta sell a lot of drugs to make up that money.
Is he an Obama son?
Seriously, why should anyone care about the laws of this country anymore?
I need more ammo.
I agree with your sentiment and the double standard is irrefutable when it comes to the Clinton family, but that should not stop us from cheering the fact that these crimes were investigated and prosecuted far more than the media has covered. I believe they convicted some of the rioters of arson also!
I would suggest that it might act as a deterrent for future bad behavior by rioters, but I doubt most of them follow the news or even know. Still a good day if justice was done. America must be (Clintons included) a country where criminal actions have criminal consequences.
About damned time these bastards were prosecuted..
But it needs to be hard time instead of a fine which will never be paid.
Next time we hear of this guy, he’ll be either the shooter or the shootee
will they accept ebt cards?
He’ll pay up as soon as Al Sharpton pays his back taxes.
Time for another beer summit in rose garden?
A million dollars. Wow! That’s like 4 Hillary speeches.
If I were the property owner, a million bucks debt would be the least of his problems.
These idiots get caught up in the moment and start to think they’re invisible, and that there will be no consequences to their criminality. It’s good to see justice catch up with them.
My question too.
Feed him to sharks. It would be cheaper for all of us.
Just another young man who is sorry and learned his lesson-——until the next riot.
