The NeverTrump movement is facing a nightmare scenario
Washington Post ^ | November 4, 2016 | Aaron Blake

Posted on 11/04/2016 12:58:10 PM PDT by C19fan

They assured each other he had no real shot of winning the presidency. They said he would be an embarrassment to the Republican Party and drag down the rest of the party with him, both in 2016 and for years to come.

To be sure, many arguments of the so-called “NeverTrump” movement in the Republican Party were based on mere principle. But some were more political pleas — that he was bad for the party, electorally speaking, and that Trump-inspired doom lay ahead.

It hasn't happened — at least, it hadn't as of the race's final week. Trump appears to be within shouting distance of winning the presidency, and the Republican base is as united in voting for him (87 percent of them are behind him) as Democrats are in voting for Hillary Clinton (also 87 percent), according to Friday's Washington Post-ABC News tracking poll.

In other words: It looks like the NeverTrumpers are leading a movement without a real base. And no matter what happens on Tuesday, they'll have a mess to clean up.

They don’t like Hillary but don’t want to admit they might vote for Trump because they want people to like them on Facebook is my take away.

My relatives on FB post that pic of the crying baby where the caption is I don’t wanna vote for any of these people, waaah!

I know for a fact they will vote for Trump but they can’t come right out and say it because the rabid Clintonista branch will come unglued and attack them.

I’ll be so glad when this election is over.

Did she go to authorities to reveal criminality? No! She went to the people who could either clean it up or cover it up so that she could continue to live in her 6 million dollar apartment in Chelsea while other NYers are walking around holding up their pants with a cardboard belt.

Can we stop being naïve here? You are not the first one to think Chelsea is the flower in the pile of manure. I’m not buying.

I wondered if she was trying to get rid of mom and dad so she could have all of the money sooner.

His unfavorable rating as a presidential nominee remains unparalleled in recorded history...

Basing this on his personality, folks have basically said, "I'm so shallow, I don't care what he stands for, I just don't like him so I'll sit it out and pout."

Beyond this, are other things. Hillary Clinton is a criminal. People have died, many of them. She is a vile woman and everyone knows it. She may even be a traitor.

Stack this up against Trump, not likeable but with a fantastic platform, and not a criminal or traitor.

He is hated the most? Not buying that at all.

I think I will too. I do think Trump is going to be victorious.

They misdirected her. The guy admitted as much in a private eMail.

Hey, I’ve got no axe to grind with regard to her.

I am of a mind that she is more than likely somewhat of a hell on wheels person.

Trump is a loudmouth buffoon, so why should I not vote for him, he is better than the corrupt harridan, and the trio of flakes.

Trump and Clinton equally have temperament issues. The difference is that Trump is honest about who and what he is. Clinton is dishonest about it.

Its been thousands of years since we had a perfect person to follow.... And we killed him.

I have no respect for people who are so scared and cowardly, they can’t even put up their home state. And you’ve been here since 2006!

“It was based on ego and childish petulance...”

Or it was based on the fact that many of the NeverTrumpers’ names are on the flight list for Lolita Express. They know that a President Trump will expose them, and a President Clinton would protect them.

If the NeverTrumpers fall into line and endorse Trump before election day, I’ll forgive and forget. If they continue as they are, they are persona non grata.

Dude...

Sorry, I should have stipulated: The saying has been in currency for over 150 years, and should not be misattributed to the writers of a liberal television program.

I apologize, retroactively and in advance to any FReepers lacking the capacity to make the necessary extrapolation.

Wasn't the first Klingon visit before the pyramids were built?

No, it wasn't. That was the first visit by the Predator aliens, a totally different fake-reality.

Unless it was claimed in TNG, DS9, or one of the other non-canonical franchises. In that case, it is simply a figment of some progtard's imagination. [Now, if it had been stated in TOS, we would have to take it seriously...]

So a guy that settled on a platform you have desired for decades is a buffoon? Really?

I guess that makes folks who rejected this type of platform sheer geniuses.

Honestly, what bothered me in 2015 was that he reminded me too much of the strong man in The Road to Surfdom.

But that is not really a risk in our republic.

And my concerns were mostly when comparing him with the other republicans. Comparing to Hillary, we really have no choice. And it is imperative that she stay far away from the white house at all costs.

I wasn’t commenting on Trumps temperament so much as making an observation about the dishonesty of The Never Trumpers.
