Gun owners must take better care of their firearms to stop them falling into the hands of jihadists plotting a massacre, police have said, as they disclosed 800 lawfully-held weapons go missing each year.

The threat of terrorists getting guns for a marauding Paris-style assault has meant the need to rid the streets of weapons has “never been a more significant priority”, senior officers said.

The difficulty of finding guns in the UK has given police a “massive advantage” in stopping atrocities such as those seen in France, but there are concerns firearms are still available to potential terrorists, some of Britain’s most senior police chiefs have said.

I, I, I....... Okay. Why don't you just implement universal (intergalactic) background checks and that should put a stop to it. Oh, and it will also stop any further domestic violence problems too. I'm sure nannie bloomers and the momunists would be happy to help you come up with a plan.

” - - - they disclosed 800 lawfully-held weapons go missing each year.”

Go missing, as in hidden so the govt can’t gram them?

Let’s give the UK police some credit here. They’ve come up with a brand new group to blame for the jihadist attacks.

Well, gee, and it took years to see any decrease in firearms homicides in the U.K. following their Dunblane inspired handgun ban (that was most likely not the reason for that decrease taking place). I guess also that the U.K. was a great place for terrorists to get their guns before the legal acquisition of shotguns required a permit, starting in 1967-68.

So if only the government is allowed to posses guns, who protects the people from government?

How will small and weak individuals protect themselves from strong and powerful brutes? Is this why there are so many Muslims who can get away with rape?

Allow “the right to bear arms” and CCW so you don’t have “gun free zones” for terrorists to operate in.

I would think that LEO are more careless with the care of firearms that the general public. Hey most LEO will get a free pass should anything ‘stolen’ if they even report — probably more likely LEO will cover their asses and hide it.

Let the terrorists in the country, then blame the law abiding citizens for the mayhem. Then strip the citizens of more freedom. Same old playbook, different day.

Let's also give the credit for uttering the word "Jihadist". Maybe they didn't actually utter it, but it's in the article and that's a start.

Yes, boating accidents do work.

Here’s a true story, in 2005 I was robbed of about $5,000 worth of stuff from a highly secured building that had bars on windows, special locks on doors, saw proof walls & doors.

The local LEO’s never bothered to even come out and look, as they dismissed it as Indians stealing it, and once on the rez, they could not go after them.

I was so disgusted over their lack of interest I never submitted an itemized list of stolen goods.

But I know for sure most of my guns got stolen.

I went back and took another look at the article. Even though the word "jihadist" is in the title, none of the police officials quoted use the term. The word "terrorist" is used instead.

Probably half of them lost by police officers.
