Beer drinkers disavow Yuengling after owner shows support for Trump

The owner of America's oldest brewery has come out in support of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, and the company's faithful drinkers aren't too happy about it.

Eric Trump, the nominee's son, stopped at D. G. Yuengling & Son's in Pottsville on Monday while campaigning on behalf of his father.

His message to the company? Hard-working family businesses like Yuengling, a fixture in Schuylkill County since the 1800s, would thrive under a President Trump, the Reading Eagle reported Tuesday.

Yuengling's response?

"Our guys are behind your father," 73-year-old owner Richard "Dick" Yuengling Jr. said, according to the newspaper. "We need him in there."

Some fans of the beer were quick to retaliate Wednesday, declaring they plan to stop drinking Yuengling altogether. That includes Communications Director for Philadelphia's City Council, Jane Roh.

Was unaware the LGBT crowd drank beer. I thought they only drank sparkling “whines”.

Haven’t had any alcohol for over 28 years - almost tempted to buy a six pack of Yuengling and give it to a friend.

I read an article recently where the Pennsylvania state Domocrats wouldn’t allow Yuengling at their state convention because they were NON-Union. Another great reason to support them. They are the oldest brewery in the US too.

Do the math. 10 people are going to vote, half Dem, half Rep. All of them drink beer. The company pushes a Rep...the 5 Dems go elsewhere. The 5 Reps don’t increase in numbers, there are still 5 of them. The only dif is a net loss of 5 from a profit base of 10. My point is “why?” You are selling beer not running a political campaign. A business must focus on profits or die...political ideology has no place at the table of business. Just ask the Dixie Chicks.

Do the math. Yuengling presently is only #12 among the top beer sellers. Most people never heard of it.

Thanks PJammers. I went to their web and sure nuff, they
do not sell it in Texas. We visited VA a couple weeks ago
and hubby thought it was “this close” to some of the German
beers he drank in Germany.
