State response has been top-notch. Wilmington Star-News
New poll results released Monday morning, October 24, 2016, by Public Policy Polling (PPP), a Democratic polling firm based in Raleigh, show GOP Governor Pat McCrorys Job Approval now more positive (45%) than negative (43%) for the first time since July 2013. We'd found Pat McCrory with a negative approval rating every single month since July 2013 until now, said Tom Jensen, Director, Public Policy Polling.
Jensen attributed McCrorys turnabout in favorable job approval to his handling of Hurricane Matthew. There's little that's better for a Governor's approval ratings than a Hurricane that voters perceive them to have handled well, said Jensen.
No sooner than the ink was dry on the two paragraphs above, when another poll was released Monday morning, October 24, 2016, this one from Monmouth, showing Governor McCrory ahead of his Democratic rival, Attorney General Roy Cooper, by 48% to 47%.
Even though the PPP survey shows McCrory two points behind Cooper, the results add to mounting evidence that North Carolinas embattled governor is enjoying the makings of a Carolina Comeback. Being behind two points is a far cry from where McCrory was in August, 2016, when all four statewide polls had Cooper ahead by an average of 6 points.

That definitely helps Trump. Check off NC.
Good news, we knew this would be close. Trump just needs to win, the margin is irrelevant.
Its even a Democratic Polling firm !!!
Yup. Horay for Dixie!!!!!
Trump is going to prevail in NC.
He is focused on three pivotal states that will determine the next POTUS: OH, FL and PA. He’s ahead in the former two and can also win the latter.
Nice!!!
What???? you mean the liberals weren’t able to politicize that hurricane, and heap abuse upon any Republican office holder in the affected areas?????
I am starting to see signs that Trump will indeed have long coattails. Except for the nevertrumpers of course.
I think the post election reasoning is going to go like this ... Global warming caused President Trump. If not for the Hurricane Matthew (caused by Global warming) , Trump would not have won NC ...
They’ll say they couldn’t see the Trump surge coming.
But they won’t blame that on boosting Hillary’s numbers.
Sadly, you’re spot on.
I asked GOP long-time operative what % of Rs would actually be nevertrumpers in OH. He said 5%.
That’s really good. I’ve been estimating 15%. If Trump gets 90% GOP vote I don’t care what polls say, it’s long over.
Trump wins NC if the Governor is ahead. No doubt at all.
I think enthusiasm for Trump here is pulling him and Burr, not other way around. But it helps all repubs. either way. Glad they didn’t bash Trump or I would have had to not vote for them
Gov. McCrory pulling ahead in NC. If he does as well in his 2nd term as his first, he should continue to be a future GOP Presidential contender.
Man it would be sweet if McCrory wins.
Stopping Roy Cooper is paramount.
A Trump/Burr/McCrory victory would be a kick in the teeth to the ‘Rats.
In ‘12 a hurricane screwed us over, it would be nice if the shoe is on the other foot this time.
