Cue to 2:45 for the first question to Perot. Trump is in many aspects giving Americans the chance to reset this country 25 years. I was not a fan of Perot at the time, mostly because at the time, I still believed that the system worked and that Republicans were not like Democrats, but damn if Trump doesn't sound just like Perot here.
I often wish that Trump could bring out Perot for a rally or two. Perot was 100% right about NAFTA and Americans need to be remimded of the big giant sucking sound of our jobs going to Mexico. Also, Slick was just showing his potential here as a candidate. The contrast between he and Bush was striking. Bush showing himself to be the partrician arse that he always had been.
He's still alive?
Yep. 86 years old.
no surprise there. i see Trump as Perot 2.0. that’s one of the main reasons i now support him.
Perot destroyed his legacy when he dropped out of the race, and it was 24 years before someone else had the b@lls to mount a serious “independent” run for the White House. Trump is much smarter about it than Perot ever was, because Trump used the primary process to get on a major ticket instead of running as a third-party candidate.
That's it! You figured it out! Very good!
I didn't see that. You've enlightened me.
in the attic
I voted for Perot in 1992. It was a vote of reason/rationality but all it did was ensure the election of President Blue Dress and ensure we’d be dealing with a Clinton infestation even today. So, I never hesitate to tell people to not do what I did. Do not vote for someone when you really need to vote against someone. A vote for Trump is the most effective vote that votes against Hillary......
The Revolution is ON!
Vote Trump!
I want Trump to be the oldest person on the stage -- by at least 20 years -- at any of his rallies.
This is the hidden key that unlocks the entire equation for Trump! I wonder if he sees it.
This allows him to transcend parties, to triangulate, as Dick Morris taught Bill Clinton to do.
You are brilliant. The Perot connection is sheer brilliance.
I guess the problem is, even if he sees it, how does Trump communicate this idea to the LIVs?
Thanks. Watched about 6 min and noticed Clinton’s thing was hope and chane!
Ross P. had that election in the bag before he dropped out. He was ahead in every poll. I’ve never seen a proper explanation on why he dropped out.
I never took the guy seriously again after that, because that convinced me that he was just an erratic little sh!t who treated the campaign like a joke.
Full disclosure -- I had the same concerns about Trump through this entire year, too.
no bro, disagree. imo, you should be thanking Perot for paving the way for Trump. political movements don’t happen overnight, especially in our rigged system. Perot was the pioneer before his time. btw, i’ve made a personal study of the history that election, so i really can’t be convinced of your viewpoint.
may God bless.
Nice find and the message of Perot is eerily similar to that of Trump today.
I think Perot might have won had he not quit the race in bizarre fashion. He still managed to get 20 percent of the vote after getting back in. But he could well have won it all had he stayed the course and not been so thin-skinned.
Many of us thought Trump would have a similar meltdown. Billionaires don’t have to put up with the crap a presidential campaign puts you through. Trump stuck it out for us though and we owe it to him to get out and vote November 8.
Perot was just like any other third-party candidate in a presidential election, but with one notable exception: He had the financial resources to mount a serious campaign on his own. And his brief success was really a function of just how bad the two major party candidates were.
Just tweeted this video off to the campaign and to AJ Delgado. Worth a shot. AJ sometimes responds. Would be nice if Trump could work the Perot angle at a few rallies. Americans need to be reminded that corrupt people like the Clintons, Bushes and others in the Uniparty have been flushing their jobs for 25 years and Perot had this figured out then.
Winning the GOP primary this year made him much more battle-tested than he ever would have been if he had run as an independent or on a third-party ticket.
