Internet Crashes Will Be Hard To Stop After Obama's Internet Giveaway
Daily Caller ^ | October 24, 2016 | Eric Leiberman

Someone successfully shut down many websites Friday, attacking a crucial part of the internet that has been made more vulnerable due to an Obama administration decision to surrender American control, according to experts.

Websites like Twitter, Spotify, Reddit and many others were not working for a large portion of U.S. citizens Friday, after unknown hackers breached the servers of Dyn, a major domain name system (DNS) host. Essentially the “yellow pages” of online addresses, DNS is the technical network that converts web address names into numbers.

“We began monitoring and mitigating a DDoS attack against our Dyn Managed DNS infrastructure. Some customers may experience increased DNS query latency and delayed zone propagation during this time,” Dyn announced in a published update.

The cyber-crime, which was likely conducted by a syndicate, issued a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack, which renders certain networks and websites inaccessible to users. The hacker(s) bombarded part of the internet’s infrastructure by directing several devices and the respective unique Internet Protocol (IP) addresses (the numerical label assigned to every device) to targeted online systems. Dyn’s DNS became inundated with so much traffic, it could no longer facilitate the navigation of the web.

Do you think the average Freeper will be able to navigate TOR and post articles?

Precisely why the spineless congress spent two years doing nothing Ryan and McConnell are globalist. They have no fidelity to the US

I think 100X instances of damaging America in a row counts as “enemy action.”

no article i posted ever said end of internet.

Sorry, never read any.. but your capitalization needs work.
I don't really read stuff when folks don't write properly.

I suggest you do a little reading before saying it is a great big sticky ball of crap..

Well, Zippy.. the internet is still here, so....

Being a member of FR, certainly you should no better that the mere fact that Obama wanted so much to give it away means loss of freedom in one way or another.

Thanks, but I'm not much in the habit of listening to folks who write "no better" about anything.

You should do the same, shun the illiterate.

OK the Internet was invented by Al Gore for the Pentagon. So what are we going to do now that the UN has control of it? Is this Obozo’s plan to submit our Military to the UN’s control, too?

"...Someone has to explain this whole thing to me one day..."

OK, a DDOS attack explained using plain, real world analogies...

So, say there is a local pizza shop in town. You try them, and for whatever reason, you have a bad experience with them. You come to HATE them. DESPISE them. You want to drive them out of business.

Well, how do you go about that?

You get an evil idea... Since most of their business comes in thru phone orders, you decide to repeatedly call their phone, and when they answer, you just hang up. Every time you do this and get connected, you are preventing a LEGITIMATE customer from getting through. This is a "Denial of service" attack.

Well, you are only one person, with just one phone. As fast as you can dial and hang up, there will still be SOME customers that ring thru. You cannot stand the thought of this. You must CRUSH them, and reduce their actual customer traffic to near Zero! What to do?

You call up all your friends, and enlist them in your plan. You ask them to repeatedly call the Pizza shop. You ask them to each ask 5 of THEIR friends to do the same. Soon HUNDREDS of people are slamming the Pizza joint's number, and no legitimate orders come thru. This is a "Distributed Denial of service" attack.

That is what you have to snark back with?? An uncapitalized “I?” OMG what a travesty! BTW, you missed my other typo, so you aren’t all that slick.

Well bud, sorry about the capitalization; however, I don’t really care as I am trying to do several things now as well as writing a reply to your foolish response...really nice to see your post as the first response on my thread. Thanks for that.

I have seen your posts here, and often you seem to delight in taking down people’s comments—However, by posting about that which you know nothing, you just exemplify the problem of apathy and ignorance regarding this issue.

Internet is still here—Wow captain obvious, no one said it is going to go dark immediately. However, I would suggest, Zippy, that you take some time to learn the facts on the issue before attacking me and putting a turd in first post.

As far as being illiterate, one or two missed typos does not an illiterate make...

Oh, and if you care to put your credentials forward regarding your academics, experience, and English expertise, I suspect I will exceed them.

Basically, this is how my son, a Principal Computer Engineer working for a major tech firm in San Jose, described it to me.

I just have to point out...Many said, “The ICANN transfer was much hype about nothing, “Talked to a relative in computing that said ‘it is no big deal’,” “Internet is nothing but porn so good riddance,” and then on October 1, said, “See the internet is still here~no problem” or my favorite “We will build a better one,” and so on and so on...

It’s the “We will build a better one” comment that I have been thinking about lately.

I know it’s a bit conspiratorial, but can you imagine the money that will be made if virtually everyone has to “upgrade” their devices?

Good point—nothing is conspiratorial given current events ;)

I am trying to do several things now

Like fighting the big fight against the outage that wasn't?

However, I would suggest, Zippy, that you take some time to learn the facts on the issue before attacking me and putting a turd in first post.

So you wish to dictate which post I choose to point out your paranoia?
Why? Isn't there something else you might more easily control?
Your bowels perhaps?

Oh, and if you care to put your credentials forward regarding your academics, experience, and English expertise, I suspect I will exceed them.

I'm Batman and I'm not crying wolf or harping on about the sky falling.

Cheers.

The US doesn’t “control” the internet neither does ICANN. What has happened is the ability to create new domain names such as .politics and .air, .homes and so on without a single government or politicians getting involved. The gays want a domain name .gay which would make it easier for gays to find gay content/websites. Straight people wanted .xxx for their porn. Just type in .xxx and search and that’s all you would get. You get the same thing just by typing porn. Both domain names are being fought over by greedy capitalists. Can’t have people find their porn easier. Free speech? No such thing on any website that’s moderated. ICANN has nothing to do with content on the internet. The idea that this has anything to do free speech or lack of it shows a clear lack of understanding of the internet and how it works. It’s a network of networks. ICANN will now have no government control anywhere, no control from US politicians and will now become a fully private company. Now you’ll have nasty legal fights over new domain names between corporations and companies.

And the stupid hackers and computer nerds who think Obama is so “cool” he can do no wrong still haven’t figured it out.

The “crash” was caused by people buying cheap things that connect to your computer. USB sticks from the gas stations, games from 24th party vendors, opening email attachments without thinking, FAILING to add protection to your web browser and going to weird sites with popups that download things into your pute. FAILING to properly scan your pute for viruses on a regular basis. After a few years it adds up into the billions.

Yep. He’s an enemy agent of some sort. I still watch in amazement how some folks don’t get that he’s a Manchurian Candidate. He doesn’t even hide it that much; in some cases, he’s in-your-face about it.
