Former Secretary of State Colin Powell said Tuesday that he plans to cast a vote for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
The retired four-star general, who served as secretary of state under Republican President George W. Bush, made the announcement at the Long Island Association’s fall luncheon.

I can’t believe there was a time - long ago - that I actually wanted Powell to run for President. Then he decided to support Obama. What a crushing disappointment.

Because he sees her as a competent trustworthy healthy Commander in Chief whose tenure as Secretary of State made the middle east and rest of the world a safer more settled place. He sees her as a strong economic leader whose decisions about policy would never be influenced by personal gain. He sees her as an independent leader, not constructed of artificial images and words crafted by a stable of staffers. He sees her as well connected to the middle class and respectful of the middle class, ethnic groups, and the American people of all faiths and political beliefs.
He knows how much she respects and honors the military and the men and women who protect her in the Secret Service. Those days of no uniforms in the WH or in her presence or even her line of sight - well that is in the past. Now she’s prepared to be their Commander in Chief.
He see her compromise of enormous amounts of classified US information for her own convenience,her own use and for sharing with donors as an simple mistake made by a truly great leader. The crafted video story about Benghazi was for the good of the American people, who need to feel like their leaders would never hide from congress and bungle an illicit arms trade with terrorists, expose a US ambassador to death and then abandon him and his staff - and lie about it.
He believes she is strong and healthy enough to handle the enormous pressures of office, even though her eyes wobble around in her head and she disappears for days at a time during a political campaign where she is ferried, shuttled, fed, medicated, injected, guarded from public view, teleprompted, earpiece-fed, and unable and unwilling to give honest answers to the few questions she is tossed by an obsequious staff of State-corporate media.
He knows she really didn’t mean to toss the black man under the bus by saying he told her it was OK to compromise the business of the US on private unvetted communications equipment
So why wouldn’t Colin vote for someone like Hillary and follow her leadership to hell and back for his country?
His main secret to success was always that he could speak and orate well with a lack of any accent.
The same with Obama. He can speak well, and with the desirable middle America Kansas accent of his grandfather.
Proper eloquence covers up for a lot of sins.
