(vanity) Boycotting NFL = Key to Collapsing the MSM
Vanity

Posted on 10/24/2016 11:16:27 PM PDT by TigerClaws

ABC / CBS / NBC need to go. Turns out the NFL is key to their profits.

Check out this story:

The key worry here is the idea that the networks are dependent on the NFL and its huge ratings. If the NFL suddenly collapses or just regresses, those huge revenue streams that are driving the networks will start to slow.

http://www.businessinsider.com/pacific-west-says-nfl-ratings-will-fall-2016-1

Along with displaying the absolute lack of respect shown to our nation and flag by players not standing for our national anthem, turns out key to putting these PRAVDA media centers out of business is just one click away!

Conservatives are 20-30% of the country. They likely are over half of the football viewers. A good percentage of us doing something else with our Sunday time could ax the revenue streams propping up these evil companies, which have weaponized all content against traditional American values.

We also need laws that mega-companies can't own newspapers in major markets.

Bezos purchased WASHINGTON POST and operates at a loss, but it gives Amazon political power. It's 24/7 non-stop anti-Trump right now. Presumably Amazon, Facebook, and Google have cut deals with Hillary to continue to pay no taxes in the United States in exchange for helping her get elected.

Any other thoughts on what we can do to destroy the existing media powers in this country?

Trump's streaming 'network news' is a nice start. With internet access on most TVs, we can compete with a direct to net network with comparatively little start up cost and regulation.

I am doing my part, as I have not seen one second of NFL football so far this season. Not as a matter of resolution, understand, just sudden loss of interest. Honestly, that’s it. Just not interested.

I might add, there’s a synergy with the election cycle. I have been avoiding TV generally. I have on occasion watched the late evening golf tournament replay, but this is dependably unobjectionable.

DEFUND socialist collectives, foreign and domestic.

I quit watching the Detroit Lions 20 years ago. I was tired of my Sundays being wasted. I quit watching all NFL after the “wardrobe malfunction”. I sent them an email that they “can take their pigskin and shove it”. Life has been fabulous without these “games”.

I’d rather pick rocks out of my car tires.

This is the concept of going Galt in action. Refuse to participate. Removing over half of any audience, for anything, is death to that thing.

If you ever wonder where your time goes, give up watching sports. If you complain you can never get anything done, give up watching sports.

Lets see how long they can pay multimillion dollar contracts to spoiled adolescents who hate large segments of their customers, who think throwing and catching balls in games that mean nothing in the big picture.

And your boycott options include the parent companies, Disney and Comcast.

Can man really live without football?
If not, then “Let’s Roll!”

This should certainly po a good many persons come Thanksgiving Day in the year ????

OH DEAR! where will those po’ boys, the sports announcers find a JOB??? and all the camera crew, players? looks like unemployment numbers would certainly go up and a good many egos deflate. We can put ‘news’ papers out of business, why NOT TV networks?

We do it a season or two and see what happens.

See if players are told to stand for the National Anthem.
See if the networks file for bankruptcy.

It’s likely 70-80% of the audience are conservatives / Trump voters.

The girly men don’t watch and most women that’d vote for Hillary wouldn’t watch football.

As someone suggested, time to Go Galt! Stop participating.

Btw, Michael Moore - yes THAT Michael Moore - all but endorsed Trump in a speech he gave the other day. He explained why Trump will win this election.

When Michael Moore says you’ll win that’s the fat canary singing! Game over, man!

Here’s what he said — the FR moderator axed it promptly for some reason:

Big ripple effect, I think this has already been touched on in that, thanks to Kaepernick, the salaries of NFLers will be driven down.

https://t.co/2R6IEDP9cx

And so will the salaries of hotdog vendors, hotel workers, and on down the line. He really screwed a lot of people. Oaf.

Telling the NFL (and NBA, etc) to go to hell and shunning them would do more than just mess up the revenue streams of the MSM, it would initiate a massive change to the “circus” as a whole. Remove the addiction to the opiate of the masses - which in the West is modern sports/entertainment, not religion - and the PTB would be scrambling indeed.

Yep. I haven’t watched an NFL game since 1994 (including the Super Bowl).

Took awhile to adjust and overcome the compulsion to flip on a game from time to time, but I fought through it and am proud to say I haven’t contributed even a wooden nickel to those turds since then.

The thing that disturbs me about this effort, is here we are trying to drive something very Americana out of business.

Granted we’re POd that Kaepernick got away with what he did, and that the NFL has sided with him (essentially).

In the end though, something that is a big deal, something we all have grown up with and have loved, is now the focus of our anger.

Kaepernick is the dillweed here. So are the NFL leaders. I say get rid of the bad seeds and keep the NFL.

It’s like were trying to kill baseball, or football, or the NBA, aren’t we cutting off our nose to spite our face?

If we were to drive the NFL out of business, we will have lost an American ICON.

I’m not that big into sport these days, but I would hate to see the NFL gone. Then what? Some idiot does the same thing in baseball, and we go after MLB? Someone does something in the NBA, and we shut them down?

I’ve enjoyed an awful lot of beer with friends over football and baseball games. I don’t want to see any of our core social frameworks destroyed.

There must be a better way to cause change, than destroying great American pastimes to make a point. In effect the Jihadists will laugh their socks off at us, for doing something they couldn’t.

Look how empty the 49ers game was:

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/look-levis-stadium-is-almost-empty-for-buccaneers-49ers-game/

They say half in other stories, but that’s about 20% attendance! Beautiful.

Hannity is on Fox and Rush gets $ from Fan Duel. Doubt either of them would publicly support a boycott. But they’d certainly report on it if it continues.

Football won’t die. Just the NFL. If that is what it takes to kill NBC then it is high time.

Sports will be with us.

Are are driving the anti-American corporations (NFL, ABC, CBS, NBC, and even Fox) away from their profits.

If their profits collapse, they’ll go bankrupt or be ripe for a takeover. Maybe a conservative will buy CBS and toss all the liberal news fools out and revamp it.

We are weaponizing our viewing/buying power to destroy the prime enemy of our nation right now - the leftist media and their overlords.

Seems worth missing a year or two of a sport to save the nation, right?

We need to make the NFL pay a price, in a big way. The boycott seems to be working, I say keep pushing. The idea that it could bring down the networks is even better.

Personally, I've been advocating people change their insurance to a company in the south. I probably pay $4000/year for Life/auto/home. Used to go with companies out of the Northeast, but transferred to USAA. Why should I pay salaries to people in the NE that elect Representatives that vote against my interests?

Also, someone mentioned that Rush and Trump have the resources to start their own football league - be nice if something like that happened.

PS - need to take down NCAA as well.

I would say this. By the spring of 2017, contract offers will basically drop on average of about two or three percent compared against 2015 or 2016 (my humble guess). I don’t see any mega players getting massive long-term contracts right now. The question will be if the next season starts out like this. Another feature will players hostile that they took a two or three percent pay-cut because of the knee-down business of their fellow players.

Long term, the NFL and the networks are working on a massive loss....into the hundreds of millions.
