CNN seems to have little value going forward.

Were I a more conspiratorial person, I would think big business moves announced ahead of a presidential election were scheduled that way on purpose because those corporate fatcats know something about how the election is going to turn out.

ATT doesn’t have that kind of cash. They are getting it from the Fed Reserve at 0%.

It’s a good time to borrow if you’re a dinosaur corp but such easy free money makes for abject stupidity.

CNN/Turner are not worth 1/1000th what ATT is borrowing to pay for them.

Regardless of the blatant move to give control of America’s internet away, CNN/Turner companies along with ATT are going to die soon enough. They offer no value for the dollar. They are already dead, they just don’t know it yet.

Let me say IMHO, AT&T is unscrupulous, insidious, despicable and very good at what they do to (not for) their customer base.
YMMV.

First it was Comcast that wasn’t approved to purchase Time Warner. Then we recently had Spectrum buy Time Warner. Now AT&T is taking over? I wonder if this was all in the works before Spectrum even bought Time Warner. Maybe that’s why they haven’t changed the logos on any of their cable trucks.

So why did they break up AT&T the first time if they’re just going to allow it to swallow up media again?

IIRC They already reabsorbed most of the Baby Bells.

A hundred years ago, our forefathers broke up the monopolies. They had some great reasons for that. To much power in to few hands.

When dissent is not banned outright, but simply not allowed to be published or seen, some will remember that. There is no way that this merger should be allowed to happen. This will be labeled “TO BIG TO FAIL!” and propped up by the taxes of our children and grandchildren.
