I’ve done long waits in the ER long before Obama came around. It all depends on the ailments you’re “competing” with. Anything that looks like it might kill you in the next hour will always go through first. Visibly spewing contagions (coughing vomiting) are next. Then comes everybody else. It can be very frustrating. It’s led to the rise of the quickmed/ not quite an ER places, very handy for folks that are sick but not ER sick, especially handy if you know what it is because it’s something you get a lot and just need somebody to write you a scrip. There used to be a lot of those places, then they went away, they’ve come back a lot in the last few years.

Ditto-—I had a FIVE hour wait one night about 20 years ago.
Brutal.
.
You’re right about that. Our ER that took my mom’s ins. is a block and a half away.
It should never have been such a long wait. Once she got there and answered all their questions, etc... she still had to wait, and wait!!
THEN they did the blood work and never returned to us for 3 hours .... They had to do it over because it was misplaced and we were there until 11:30
Some people are ga ga about the idea of Government assistance.... BUT, they are just razzle dazzled by that magic word free
Bleeding on the paperwork helps to get you seen quicker...:^)
