BOSTON (CBS) Monday Night Football in Week 5 featured two underperforming (or just-plain-bad) NFL teams and posted the lowest overnight rating since ESPN acquired the rights to broadcast the show in 2006. The Week 6 contest between the Arizona Cardinals and New York Jets, somehow, performed even worse.

Of course, there is still the segment of fans who have decided to stop watching the NFL altogether in the wake of players protesting the national anthem, which many mainstream media outlets continue to curiously ignore (save for a select few from Forbes and The Sporting News).

The NFL is sucking the life out of its own product, and it certainly didnt help that it started politicizing the broadcasts either. Hundreds of fans have emailed me to declare that they are boycotting the NFL over the anthem protest movement started by the 49ers Colin Kaepernick. The hashtag #BoycottNFL has been tweeted or retweeted about 1,500 times in just the past 24 hours, according to HashTracking.com. The boycotts are growing and having an effect on the ratings, as much as the league may want to deny it...

How could anyone resist that Super Bowl preview they had on last night? /s
I didn’t watch the game. Will you elaborate?
What ever possessed them to give the J-E-T-S Jets a Monday night slot in the first place?
Does anyone know how ticket sales are going? The limited time I saw games on TV recently it looked like a lot of empty seats.
Speaking of boycotts, if Hillary wins this election I am having absolutely NOTHING to do with the MSM for the rest of my life. Lifetime ban. I will cancel my cable, I will not visit their websites, buy their newspapers, look at their ads, have absolutely nothing to do with anything that has even the remote possibility of making them money or ratings, and all people of sound mind should do the same. Let them suck on having 50% of their audience GONE for good. F them and the BS they rode in on.
I watched the Blue Jays-Indians game, and when it was finished I switched over just to see if anything was happening on MNF, and it was also over. Given the sport drama in the baseball game and the lopsided score in the football game, I think I got the better end of the deal, even though as a Rays fan I wanted to see the Jays at least win one from the tribe before fading into postseason obscurity.
It was a real thriller the Cardinals won 28-3.
Set yourself free ..!
get rid of your TV..!
I’m going on my fifteenth year and I feel even better now.
you can do it!
To hell with the NFL!
Another Monday night in the workshop, building stuff.
Oh, I get it now. I thought you were talking about another plug for the SB half-time “entertainment”.
Cause when you're a Jet, you're a Jet all the way
From your first cigarette to your last dying day...
I got a roku device. It is really cheap. There is plenty of free stuff to watch.
Such good news. Thanks.
Horrible play, horrible officiating, thug players, crap announcers - don’t care to waste my time.
I don’t believe he has an African American father. Looks more Jewish (probably Sephardic, not Ashkenazi) or possibly Arab. Unless the ‘African’ part means north African, rather than the more commonly understood sub-Saharan Africa.
But he’s certainly not a Negro.
Most ticket sales for NFL teams are “Season Tickets” and therefore were sold months ago.
If you saw empty seats, chances are they were no-shows but the team had already gotten its money for them.

What will be your approach to the ubiquitous CNN broadcasts in airports?
The protest of the national anthem is important though. There is no better way to start an open discussion that will move toward resolving problems than for the political left to insult our country, is there?
