Don’t even think about reaching for a pint of Cherry Garcia, Chunky Monkey, Chubby Hubby, or Half Baked.
Why? Here’s the scoop: You likely know this already, but if you do buy some Ben & Jerry’s ice cream — you’re supporting one of the most liberal companies in the country.
Last week, the Vermonters declared their support for Black Lives Matter by posting a giant BLM logo on the company’s Facebook page and website, saying, “Choosing to be silent in the face of such injustice is not an option.”
The statement goes on to directly target police: “It’s been hard to watch the list of unarmed Black Americans killed by law enforcement officers grow longer and longer. We understand that numerous Black Americans and white Americans have profoundly different experiences and outcomes with law enforcement and the criminal justice system. That’s why it’s become clear to us at Ben & Jerry’s that we have a moral obligation to take a stand now for justice and for Black lives.”
In response, Blue Lives Matter is calling on all Americans to boycott all Ben & Jerry’s products and send a message to the company.

A direct attack won’t work. This is because Ben & Jerry’s is a subsidiary of the giant Anglo-Dutch conglomerate Unilever.
Ben & Jerry’s management may feel immune from direct challenge, but Unilever is both gigantic and vulnerable. Not so much to a boycott, but to bad public relations.

Not too long ago they made a major PR mistake in attacking a tiny rival over mayonnaise. Their uncoordinated, blundering attack showed them up as having “feet made of clay”.
If the major police organizations go after Unilever directly because of Ben & Jerry’s, Unilever will likely lash out at Ben & Jerry’s, at least telling them to “put a sock in it.”
Maybe I’ll swing by my local supermarket and put a bunch of Ben & Jerry’s in the shopping cart and then accidentally leave it down at the end of an aisle.

Never supported them anyway. Bunch of libs and don’t like their ice cream. I make my own (even caramel swirl, green tea, fudge browinie bite, choc chip cookie dough)
