I really enjoy the songs ‘Joey’ about Joey Gallo, the mobster, and ‘Hurricane,’ about Reuben Carter. I find them to be excellent examples of American historical ballads.
You don’t have to like the subject of the ballad to appreciate the story-telling in it.
