Donald Trump's campaign is "pulling out of Virginia," a move that stunned staff in the battleground state, three sources with knowledge of the decision told NBC News.
The decision came from Trump's headquarters in New York and was announced on a conference call late Wednesday that left some Republican Party operatives in the state blindsided. Two staffers directly involved in the GOP's efforts in Virginia confirmed the decision.
The move to pull out of Virginia shows Trump is "running essentially a four state campaign," with the focus now shifting to battlegrounds critical to his chances in November: Pennsylvania, Florida, North Carolina, and Ohio, a source with knowledge of the decision told NBC News.
The “three sources” for the article are probably Hillary staffers.
Hopefully Wikileaks will tell us who they are!
Bogus story from NBC to create panic or get voters to throw in towel.
It’s all lies. That’s what they do. Fight on.
Befit was 7% behind. Until the people voted.
I call BS on this article. I don’t see anyone winning without a 50-state campaign. Playing defense and focusing on a few states would surely include Virginia, which Trump has invested in.
“The three sources for the article are probably Hillary staffers.”
And so are the people posting these doom and gloom articles.
If Trump wins PA, FL, NC, and OH (I have doubts about PA), he could lose NH, CO and HV, and he would still win. He could even lose one of UT or IA and still win. Getting PA changes the entire election.
BTW, getting MI instead of PA pretty much locks up the election too.
Couldn’t have anything to do with the current investigation into widespread vote fraud? When the deck is stacked, there’s simply no point in Trump wasting time or resources on a state he can’t win. Too bad for the citizens who will be disenfranchised, but maybe it will galvanize them into pushing back on their politicians who either perpetrated this massive voter fraud scheme or abdicated their responsibility to uncover it and stamp it out.
I know what you mean. It amazes me how some folks on here seem to get a secret thrill almost out of posting bad news. Do they just like the attention, or what?
That Ali Vitali is a little punk, he covers Trump, goes to all Trump rallies and is constantly Tweeting and has nothing positive to say about him!
Nothing
But
Crap
Has he ever been winning in the Virginia state polls? Virginia seems like an especially tough state for him because of Kaine’s hometown advantage and because of how much he’s ticked off the RINOs that define the D.C. government employee culture.
Unfortunately as a Pennsylvanian I don’t think he can win it. G.W. lost it twice...how is Trump supposed to do better than G.W. when the state keeps getting less white every cycle? I’ve seen paths to victory that don’t include Pennsylvania and Virginia. He should pursue one of those. Trump is toxic in the Philly suburbs. This is liberal feminist central. Conservative women essentially don’t exist here.
Anonymous sources. I smell horsedump!
I was a newspaperman for 25 years but never made the big leagues. You might say my career topped out at AA ball.
But I can tell you that no managing editor I ever worked under would allow anonymous sources except under the rarest of circumstances.
In these relatively small media markets, we were accountable to our readers in a way these big-time journalists can never understand.
We knew that if we screwed up, our phones would be ringing off the hook and we’d probably be catching hell over lunch at the local beaneries the next day.
We may not have been the most elegant writers on the planet — and we sure as heck didn’t have any Ivy Leaguers on staff.
But we at least learned to recognize a fact if it bit us on the backside.
“If a story’s too good to be true, it probably is.” I learned this lesson from several old-time editors.
In the interest of full disclosure to my readers, I am paraphrasing here. But this is still an accurate description of how I was taught.
Unfortunately, nearly all the good news people I worked with are retired or dead. The current generation not only has contempt for facts, they can’t push a noun against a verb without crashing.
What have they done to the profession I loved? As a lifelong bachelor I used to say I was “married to the news business” for 25 years.
I was wrong. I’m a widower.
No point in giving up. All we’re going by now is what the news media tells us. Why should we believe them? They don’t know how many Democrats will stay home.
Trump is definitely huge in northeastern PA with the white population, but they’ve been decimated as hispanics have taken over up to half the population since 2000 and whites from NE PA have fled the state in droves.
I don’t believe anything reported by the MSM. Until I hear it from the Trump Campaign itself this story is bogus..
I don’t buy this crappola report. Why would you give up after giving a great performance over Hillary in the debate? Psy-ops is all it is.
The press is really going out on a ledge.
“I was wrong. Im a widower.”
Lol. Well said.
Even if the Trump campaign had decided to stop focusing on Virginia, the last thing they would want to do would be to advertise that fact, or let it be known the campaign is “pulling out of” Virgina.
This smells strongly of disinformation.
