Former Republican Attorney General Michael Mukasey has been one of the most vocal critics of Hillary Clinton over her email use, but he says Donald Trumps threat to possibly jail her is something that we dont do here.
Mukasey, who served as the nations top law enforcement officer under President George W. Bush, told the Washington Post in an interview Monday that it would be like a banana republic if Trump followed through on his threat at Sunday nights debate.

They fear Trump.
So let’s get this straight. No politician should be held accountable for criminality or we’re a “banana republic”?
OK, have it your way but then you’re going down the path of guilotines and lamp posts. I’d much rather go down the path of the rule of law and justice.
FU Muckasey
But they say people “get put in jail” for what Trump said on the bus. What they’re really saying is that there is no law for the elites.
it’s a banana republic if we DON’T do something with hillary.. man, where do these people get off thinking she can’t be touched!
Translation: Hillary has Mukasey’s FBI file
As the crowd chanted,
"CNN Sucks!"
And there lies the problem. Politicians are above the law in this country. Especially a sickly and frail old lady trying to buy her way into the White House before she croaks.
BS. First off he said he would order a Special Prosecutor, and there is nothing Banana Republic whatsoever in that. We are supposedly a nation of laws where no man or woman is above the law.

You beat me to it. We are either a Republic of laws or we are not. Now is the time for all good men to stand on the side of law or the Republic is over.

Yes we do. A guy who made a film was put in jail because it was convenient to blame his film for the death of US Ambassador Stevens - along with the deaths of patriotic US citizens who tried to protect him. Scooter Libby was put in jail for much less than Hillary has done.
In a banana republic, politicians are above the law. Mukasey is saying that Hilliary is above the law.
What's that, the left wants Karl Rove frog-marched to jail in cuffs?
What's that, the left wants to jail Dubya for War Crimes?
What's that, Sheriff Arpaio is being charged by the Obama Injustice Department?
What's that, Tom DeLay?
What's that, Ted Stevens?
What's that, Hillary NOT in jail?
What's that, Janet Reno not in jail for Waco?
What a bunch of Vichy RINOs.
It would be more like a banana republic if the next President DID NOT appoint a special prosecutor.
Gross negligence is, in fact, what he [Comey] actually described and said she [Clinton] was extremely careless. Thats the definition of gross negligence, particularly when you describe material she was dealing with, Mukasey told the FOX Business Networks Maria Bartiromo. So just because of antipathy towards Trump, he bounces back to defending Hillary.
They havent yet cleared up the question of whether the Clinton Foundation is still under investigation, Ive got no idea where that goes. Obviously, the portions of yesterdays press conference just before he made his announcement are going to be cut up into little sound bites and turned into campaign spots for Donald Trump.
According to Mukasey, the gross negligence described by Comey is actually enough to prosecute Hillary Clinton.
There is no issue of intent under the statute, under either statute. Hes talking about two separate laws; One says that if you show gross negligence in putting classified material where it shouldnt be and in the hands of somebody who shouldnt have it, that is a felony. Now gross negligence is the only level of intent you need, and what he described was gross negligence.
Mukasey took issue with the FBI director publicly announcing the agencys recommendations on the case.
He stepped way outside his job in disclosing the recommendation in that fashion.
Is this Bush toady really this stupid.
I beleieve I had a conversation with such a person similar to his comments.
My retort to him was...do we allow a criminal act that threatened the security of the American people to go unpunished? Do we allow TREASON to go unpunished?
No reply from that person.
