A Facebook Live video of the protest shows a pickup truck revving its engine in front of the crowd that had spilled onto the street in Reno's downtown. Several protesters confronted the driver and the passenger before the truck drives through the crowd, tires squealing, at about 6:40 p.m. Monday.
Soto said the activists did not have a permit to protest in the street, but some had gathered in the travel lanes of Virginia Street on the main casino drag.
Soto said he couldn't comment on whether the driver or passenger felt threatened by the crowd and declined to comment on whether it was being treated as a hate crime.
"We are certainly looking into all aspects of the information that comes forward," Soto told reporters.

And you’re right. I hadn’t read enough or seen to video to make an informed comment. I stand corrected.
Show us your evidence that the people were attacking the driver. You can’t do it.

Dumb question BUT
Who is being considered committing a ‘hate crime’? the people blocking a PUBLIC highway or the driver.
If I were the driver, I guess you could consider I was committing a ‘hate crime’ inasmuch as I would tend to ‘hate’ someone who was threatening me.
Of course me sitting here and saying I would react by running over whatever and/or whoever would be considered premeditated by the same crowd that would say the mob etc was just overcome by the situation or some other gobblygook
Me too. If I were threatened with wife/kids in the vehicle, I’d make protester pancakes.
