The state of Vermont and the cities of Denver and Phoenix joined the growing list of places celebrating Native Americans on the federal holiday named for Christopher Columbus.
Since Columbus Day 2015, at least 14 communities in the United States have passed measures designating the second Monday in October Indigenous Peoples Day.

Me think that heap good idea!
Why try to change history? It can’t be changed!
It’s Worldwide STD Exchange Day.
Douchebaggery gone wild. If they call it Indian day and move it to the first Monday in September, I’ll support it.
How about “Losers Day”?
There are no humans indigenous to the Americas. Any Homo Sapiens living here either immigrated or is descended from immigrants. Some got here sooner, some later is the only difference among them.

Honor the indigenous people who made this country great: let’s go back to living in teepees. While at it, give up those terrible white man things like penicillin, electricity and the worldwide web.
How many holidays have to be changed before it is good enough/
One of those holidays that needs to be scrapped. And scrap Labor day as well. And finally, MLK day...there are many heroes in this country who equal the attributes of King. We don’t need a holiday for it however. Let’s keep the government working for their salaries.
Civilization bad
Human sacrifice good.
Wouldn’t that make it Birth Labor Day?
I am Choctaw. I can’t tell you how sick I am of this political correctness stuff. We are American Indians.
So what if Columbus had no idea where he was going, who he met or where he had been? His voyages were “game changers.” Give him his day.
That we were misnamed has been corrected by 500 years of honor. When we say American Indian, you don’t get us confused with Eskimos, Inuits or Polynesian Islanders.
Once Christianity and white people are gone and forgotten.
Well certain white people that is.
Here in So. Dakota, it’s Native American Day. Sad.
Just another day off for the Federal employees that we get to pay for - If anything it should have been Amerigo Vespucci Day, so am in favor of just eliminating it altogether. Too many federal holidays as it is. However, being the selfish narcissist that I am, I won’t rest until we have White Privilege Remembrance Day when we crackers are a minority group...which will be sooner than you think.
Any any “indigenous people” here were a disunited, warring, vicious people in most instances. Truly stone-age, as the left is always trying to denigrate the writers of Scripture.
Not true.
Were living out 1984 right according to script:
Its a beautiful thing, the Destruction of words. Of course the great wastage is in the verbs and adjectives, but there are hundreds of nouns that can be got rid of as well. It isnt only the synonyms; there are also the antonyms. After all, what justification is there for a word, which is simply the opposite of some other word? A word contains its opposite in itself. Take good, for instance. If you have a word like good, what need is there for a word like bad? Ungood will do just as well better, because its an exact opposite, which the other is not. Or again, if you want a stronger version of good, what sense is there in having a whole string of vague useless words like excellent and splendid and all the rest of them? Plusgood covers the meaning or doubleplusgood if you want something stronger still. Of course we use those forms already, but in the final version of Newspeak therell be nothing else. In the end the whole notion of goodness and badness will be covered by only six words in reality, only one word. Dont you see the beauty of that, Winston?
Dont you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? In the end we shall make thoughtcrime literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it. Every concept that can ever be needed will be expressed by exactly one word, with its meaning rigidly defined and all its subsidiary meanings rubbed out and forgotten.
I didn't know there were Bahama tribes like Arawaks or Canibals (from the nearby island of Caniba, and yes, they had those dietary habits) in Din-ver. Must have been tough sailing to get there in them canoes.
There are no indigenous peoples or native Americans in the America’s. Everybody’s ancestors came from somewhere else. It’s just an argument over when.
