Read the article in the local news, post #5.

Unlike the Post headline, this doesn't sound malicious. Just kids being exceptionally stupid.

There but for the grace of God go I.

The son of a friend of mine and his buddies went into a small field with a can of gasoline. Little did they know it would explode. All the boys were burnt and learned a lesson.

The son went on to become an Engineer, winding up his career in the space program at Cape Canaveral.

We pray for our kids every day...and wish them the gifts of faith and wisdom.

Really? In your childhood when did you ever think it was okay to light another human being on fire?

I admit I torched some Christmas trees that were in the alley and a pile or two of trash but how does one decide to light a person on fire?

It was intentional if not premeditated. The boys were known to bully him. He is in a coma and his organs are failing.

“Mack said the 10-year-old was playing in a field with two other children when one boy doused him with gasoline and another set him on fire off Wallace Street in Kerrville on Sunday afternoon. The floor of a shed also burned.”

“The family believes the attack was planned.”

Just kids being exceptionally stupid.

Exceptionally! Even by the standards of my gormless Offspring.

“Unlike the Post headline, this doesn’t sound malicious.”

In any headline, intentionally setting someone on fire is malicious.

Wow. Talk about a misleading headline! Correction. They lied, pure and simple.

Then they should be thrown under the jailhouse until they turn 21. Such stupidity should have consequences.

Boys being boys with gasoline, it sounds like. I remember I regrew my eyebrows once. My dad caught their garage afire when he was a kid. This was a bad one - backflash, can on fire, flaming hot can got quickly tossed, hit another boy.

Kerrville Fire Chief: Fire that severely burned boy not premeditated

By Ivan Herrera - Web Producer-News

KERRVILLE, Texas - Updated Thursday at 1:25 p.m.:

Kerrville fire and police officials said the fire that left Kayden Culp, 10, with second- and third-degree burns doesn’t appear to be premeditated.

Boy in coma after sustaining burns; mother says other boys did it intentionally

At a news conference, officials said the shed was already on fire when a juvenile male poured gasoline onto the fire, causing a flash fire that burned Kayden.

“Which in turn resulted in a backflash to ignite the container and the contents of that accelerant, which were then discarded by that individual, which inadvertently, according to everything that we’ve developed, struck this child,” Police Chief David Knight said.

He said four boys, who knew each other, were in the shed when the fire erupted.

“No one was coerced to be there,” Knight said.

After the news conference, an unidentified female family member of the juvenile arrested said the fire was an accident.

“We know that these kids, like I said before, are all friends,” she said. “He didn’t deliberately do this and go over there and throw this gasoline on top of him. You guys heard what they said in there (news conference). They were messing with it (gasoline), so somebody went this way, and it splashed everywhere.” ...”

Brings to mind the following episode of the Andy Griffith Show...

Episode title: Keeper of the Flame

Opie joins a secret club called The Wildcats and is in charge of the candle they use in their meetings. After the barn where they meet burns down, he is accused by the owner of starting the fire.

Plot:

Opie is accepted as a member of a secret society called The Wildcats after he takes a sacred oath never to reveal the club secrets. Given the job of Keeper of “The Sacred Candle”, Opie is fingered as the guilty party when the barn that the The Wildcats meets in is burned to the ground.

The fire was actually started by the barn’s owner, farmer and moonshiner Jubal Foster.

Not knowing this, Andy takes responsibility for the fire and is about to pay Foster for the value of the barn when Barney, having stumbled upon and unknowingly, consumed some of Foster’s moonshine, staggers out drunk. Andy sees this and realizes that it was Jubal who started his own fire - blaming it on the boys instead. Andy arrests Jubal.

OK ... I read the article. Fascinating. Looks like a bunch of idiots decided to burn down a shed, and one of them got badly toasted in the process. Arson is a felony. If he dies, the other three could very well face "Felony Murder" charges.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Details don’t matter here very often when it’s rope time

You know that

And I’m guilty too sometimes

I actually did some research and discovered in just two minutes that investigators have:

Ruled out intentional

The kids were playing together and screwed up

Some of the burned kids relatives and crazy media claimed it was on purpose even though investigators and those there say otherwise

The coma is to relieve the pain

The poor kid has second degree burns over his torso and arms and neck

He is happily not in danger of dying from his burns

But I don’t want to dampen rope fever on this forum for 9 10 and 11 year old killers

No sir

I mean sometimes you just can’t make it up here

Rolling along plowing it all down
