None of the permanent members of the Security council can be SecGen of the UN.

That hasn’t stopped them from trying though.............Clinton, Gorbachev, Carter etc............

Obolo never can be United Nations Secretary-General, thank heavens.

The position is filled from nominees presented by the UN Security Council to the UN body for a vote.

The appointee may NOT be a citizen of any of the 5 permanent Security Council member countries....and the US is a permanent member.
