Hurricane Matthew is big, bad and just downright scary, with iminent and sustained impacts to U.S. mainland. Florida Governor Rick Scott issued a state of emergency for all of Florida and disaster operations are activated. More than 1.5 million Floridians reside in current evacuation zones. Governor Scott has spoken with utilities across the state to ensure utilities are pre-positioned and there are no unmet needs. Multiple coastal hospitals have been evacuated. Meanwhile, feckless President Barack Hussein Obama is personally monitoring the progress of the storm.

‘Bombing out’.
The storm surge may wipe out A1A in that area. For the people staying, the aftermath will be daunting. It's sad enough to think our little piece of paradise we go visit a few times a year may be gone...but the thought of people trying to ride this out is terrifying.
So the storm is so deadly deadly dangerous they are going to fly in Anderson Cooper and tie him to a lamp post? Aren't they worried he will be killed?
It takes a special kind of courage to leave your family and intentionally head into the teeth of a storm like this one.
Prayers to all those linemen and all the first responders who are hunkering down near the impact area so that they can initiate the recovery as soon as possible.
Yep, the libs love their junky thinking and to tell them to put it to a “mental curb” is offendsive to them.
That is pretty much those counties are a small part of FL. That is where it is “purple”.
8:00 am update has it at 125 sustained cat 3 IIRC.
Where is your FIL’s place? General location, want to map it to check later.
When Jim Cantore shows up in your neighborhood, it means you need to leave...
The only two important takeaways here after the safety of the citizens is:
1. Climate change is the problem.
2. More Government is the solution.

Stop your insults, please. Your original post left out important info, and fostered misinterpretation. When posting in this thread, remember there are many people with very little knowledge about storm physics that you may think basic.
It is not that it is “so deadly”, there have been stronger storms. It is WHERE it is hitting and the total number of square miles of heavily populated megalopolis area that will see damage and loss of infrastructure.
-—I was just watching CNN apparently no one has seen a storm like this in the history of mankind and there will be no survivors on the east coast in Florida.——
Don’t be silly...until CNN calls it a “Super Storm”...like Sandy, it’s just normal
“It is WHERE it is hitting and the total number of square miles of heavily populated megalopolis area that will see damage and loss of infrastructure.”
or the eye stays over the ocean with the strongest winds staying 100 miles off the coast
I saw that and it looks like it moved a little west.
I gotta tell ya if that barometer keeps dropping like it was you gotta figure 5 would not be out of the realm.
Recon found 937 mb pressure. Cantore said it has dropped 22 mb in 12 hours - and the wind increase tends to lag behind the pressure drops.
Will you please quit the downcasting? The models show nothing of the sort happening. If it does happen, great. But folks need to prepare for what is forecast.
