The teen accused of shooting two students and a teacher at a South Carolina elementary school on Wednesday reportedly was expelled from middle school last year for showing up with a hatchet.
A family friend of the suspected shooter told WSPA the 14-year-old was being home-schooled after the hatchet incident.
The alleged shooter had no known connection to Townville Elementary, where he was eventually taken into custody. He had been

It is common for parents to call 'homeschooling' what they do with a troubled child/expelled child when they've had it up to their gills will problems with the child and simply take him/her out of school. That is not home schooling.
This was an identified, troubled kid who should have been in a facility of some kind.
Initial reports I heard on Fox yesterday were identifying this kid as “homeschooled”.

While I understand proscriptions against IDing the kid, notice there is NO INFO about the parents. Zip. Nada. No names, no photos, nothing.
It disgusts me how they try to smear homeschoolers for stuff like this.
He is a product of the public education system.
When THEY kicked him out, what choice did the parents have?
So what if they were *homeschooling* him?
You are correct. This is one reason why homeschooling is getting a bad rap in the last several years and why homeschooling test scores are being brought lower.
Disturbed kids are getting kicked out of public school and not much is done about bettering the individual’s situation.

I am a retired teacher and with the few cases I recall of students being expelled, the school was required to find the student an alternative school (at the schools expense).
As a retired teacher you are certain to know that many alternative schools are half-way houses to prison.
I’m betting this kid wasn’t getting any schooling at all at home. That’s just a lie they’ve concocted so they can get troubled kids out of their hair and out of their expense.
exception: home schooling
Most private schools will NOT take these kids, so the system encourages the lie that they are being home schooled.
Emotionally disturbed units exist in many school districts, and one has to wonder why this kid wasn’t there.
My experience is the school is almost always an "alternative" school.
Happened a county over from where my daughter lives. The little boy, Jacob Hall, was shot in the leg, tearing through his femoral artery. He coded twice and the doctors have said they have done what they can and just have to wait and that he is in God’s hands now.
There is a picture of his murdered father on Daily Mail.
It’s not that easy. We’ve tried for years to get our 2 adopted foster kids into an institution. Our boy acted similarly to this kid but never any weapons, but multiple threats of violence and our daughter was the biggest thief in school. Both had a team of behavioral counselors and psychiatrists.
The bottom line is the kids have to actually cause bodily harm to themselves or others and even then you’re lucky if tgey have a facility that has an available bed.
Well would probably identify the child if they did.
What impression did you get? Was he standing by his pick up with the Confederate flag bumper sticker, NRA decal in the rear window and shotgun in the rifle rack, sleeves on his t shirt rolled up with a pack of cigarettes over a tattoo of Adolph Hitler...
Father's name was Jeffrey Osborne.

Backwards enough for you? I’ll be homeschooling my kids soon.
Not being easy is the point.
IIRC, they have made it extremely hard to get anyone required mental help. Liberals like to empty prisons and mental institutions and set the inmates free on the general population.
When they could be getting help.
Took a little more effort, but the mother’s name was Tiffney. Shouldn’t be that hard to track down the 14 year old killer’s name.
