Train struck train station in Hoboken, NJ....mass casualties, reports of fatalities.
The PATH trains terminate there, but NJ Transit trains do, too. The incident was with a NJ transit train. The NJ transit trains terminate on ground level. The PATH trains terminate underground (they were flooded during storm Sandy).
Missed this one, apparently...
We don’t know, we’re all just guess at this point and I don’t know the workings of trains at all.
We will all have to sit tight, but I’ll keep my eyes and ears open. When I hear that this is just an accident from the news people, I immediately become suspicious - can’t know anything this early on.
Anymore, when something happens like this, that's the first thing I think.......Muslim?
Great minds think alike.
Was he muttering random phrases like Aloha Snack-bar just before the crash?
What a mess.
Prayers up for all involved.
Let’s put it this way, none of us dismiss the possibility it is jihad anymore - it’s always a possibility.
IMO, a probability.
Sabotage.
What better way than to make it look like an accident?
Is it possible a mechanical failure would keep it running despite his action??
No.
However, recently an MBTA engineer jury rigged the dead-man switch so that he could do other things while driving. He went outside to check on a faulty door and forgot to remove his rigging. The train left the station and ran for about 6 miles after the MBTA shut down the electric power.

That is a photo of the PATH train area. The “crash” happened upstairs.
Or was that the name of the guy who fixed the brakes?
The brakes on a train are fail-safe.
If it was a Jihadi seeking Paradise by killing Infidels, mosques must have explosive “accidents” in their basement armories.
That was in Elizabeth, NJ. Elizabeth is several miles away from Hoboken.
FoxNew reporting 100s of injuries, no fatalities (yet). Train not likely going too fast at the time, perhaps 10 MPH, as opposed to the 100 MPH previously reported. Operator MAY have suffered heart attack (pure speculation at this point).
Operator MAY have suffered heart attack....
But held the dead-man switch??? Possible but unlikely.
That was in NYC, not the NJ Transit station in Elizabeth, NJ.
Sounds like you are familiar with the system. I am wondering - I heard about many suspended lines - do they all come into this terminal?
