Exactly. And remember truck driver Reginald Denny? Remember the video?
He was almost killed by one of those rioting thugs, who were throwing bricks at his head as hard as they could.
And I also remember the defendant getting off with a slap on the wrist, "general mayhem", instead of "attempted murder"!
On that day, I knew there was something wrong with the American Justice system.
It seems to me like different groups are affected in different ways by various injustices, but it's pretty clear that there are a set of problems in the Justice system which impact just about everyone.
I think Donald Trump can be a genuine unifier for the People. He needs to make that pitch, and use it to repudiate the false smears being fomented by the utterly soulless and amoral authoritarian Left.
Vote Trump!
“police job is to carry out the law. There is no mandate to protect”
Correct, but the rioters were not acting legally. The police weren’t “carrying out the law”.
Had they been, the rioters would be getting arrested.
As a result of that, those on the highway would’ve been “protected”.
No one is asking that the police be a bodyguard (as in the court case you refer to).
But if they are not going to enforce the law, innocent people will suffer needlessly.
I bet they wouldn’t hesitate to arrest someone defending themselves in this situation.
Who do they work for? The PEOPLE of their municipality. The function of the police includes serving the community in many ways beyond cut and dried law enforcement.
______________
They work for their masters/
Nope, they don’t. It’s not just one opinion either. There have been a number of rulings over decades. The Court basically says that police have a general duty to society at large, but there is no duty owed any individual. In other words, if you call the police because someone is breaking in your home, you had better grab that .44 because they have no legal obligation to try to protect you.
Remember Hillary wanted to go there after the protests to show solidarity with the protesters. Now you know who she sides with and it is not the people stuck in their cars fearing the thugs.
Court case was i believe Warren vs. District of Columbia.
Ok I just read about the ruling. It was about a case where a man abducted his children from his former partner and she called the police to have them arrest him. The man ended up killing the kids, then was killed by police. The suit was that the police did not act “fast enough”. I don’t have further details, but not acting in time vs assuming no responsibility to act at all are very different parts of the spectrum. I can understand that no one is able to prevent all crime, thus no duty to protect against all crime, but that inability to always prevent crime is not an excuse to not make the effort you are paid to perform.
Police have no responsibility to protect individuals (reference)
This is an argument favoring hi-capacity magazines, assuming you have a gun with you for the mags. Hell, this is a good argument for full auto.
I am no expert on this but I thought he was referring to Castle Rock v. Gonzales, decided in 2005.
...and using it in that instance will bring the weight of the entire justice system down on you.
That "thin blue line" that is supposed to be protecting law abiding citizens from the chaos is what is in actuality protecting the miscreants.
I understand your statement completely. They can not be held accountable for what happens before they arrive, thus arm up and be prepared. But if you call for help and they refuse to act, not because they were busy at another crime scene, but because the court says they “have no duty”, then they should be in the unemployment line within 24 hours.
Not having a “duty” implies they cant be held accountable for outcomes where they weren’t on scene. It does not mean they can just not show up for work.
Need to put some racks in some trucks and some AR-15s on them to deal with these feral animals. It’s sad it’s come to this but when everything is considered, use of force is the only language that animals understand.
Officer German Shepherd is actually much, much better.
And they are scared of dogs. Run screaming.
Does this mean we can protect ourselves, esp if we happen to have a gun in the car?
I was driving after 2 AM with my wife in Jacksonville FL coming away from the Jazz festival there 20+ years ago and made a turn one exit too early from the interstate. We found ourselves in a very BAD part of the city and quickly had people running toward the car. I held up my FEG 9x18 and wife held up her S&W 38spec and the folks stopped and stayed back while we got turned around and went back up on the I-State. No CCW then but one doesn’t need it to have a gun in one’s car in FL and self defense is self defense. I have always had a gun in the car when away from hometown.
Actually Soros needs to be hunted down like a dog and interrogated and tortured until he admits what his global world plans are and his relationship with Obama while being recorded for all to hear later. All of his funds need to be dumped and then he needs to be shot and removed from the land of the living. Then all of his offices raided and destroyed.
Yep I don't like or care for him much. Not at all...
“...his former partner...”
You mean, spouse, girlfriend, ex-lover, etc.
The homosexual left co-opted the word ‘partner’.to indicate their significant others. It pains me to see that usage creeping into the general population.
I correct heteros whenever I see them slipping into that.
