I did not watch the debate last night- my stomach was turning, but I followed the live thread here at FR (great job). Fact is clinton has done one-on-one debating for 15+ years never mind being a lawyer. Fact also while Trump may not have won the debate he certainly did not lose it; try as the criminal liberal media may there was no "ah-ha!!" moment Trump put out there which they will try and hang him with. He can only get stronger from here. Also- my feeling has been the VP's may turn the tide for the undecideds in this election with seemingly so much unfavorables for the top line candidates. There is no doubt in my mind Mike Pence will destroy tim co-Kaine in the VP debate.
had to get this off my chest...
I think all Trump needed to do was not look bad. I did not watch the debate either, but there did not seem to be any gotcha moments for Trump.
Don't fall into that trap. Ryan lost the debate with Biden, but Biden was rather disrespectful. I guess the Veep debates are more unstructured; that is what I saw.
I didn’t watch. I gave up on debates after 2012 plus she is insufferable. My question to those who watched is will any of it even be remembered in a week? I don’t believe they do much to change outcomes of elections.
Some good points; I didn’t listen either but read the ongoing at FR thread which was quite informative. From what I gathered, Trump did well in the first half hour, then fell for the gambit of responding to the personal cuts that he should have expected and parried. The media will balloon this as a tremendous Hillary victory; many people tend to follow whatever trend is set for them by the media so I expect her to be up by 4-5 points in the polls in the coming week. My take on it is that if Trump had been better prepared and on point, he was ahead in the polls yesterday and could have put distance ahead of her. Now it is going to be a slog.
Trump did not lose in any way except he missed opportunities to destroy her.
again- Biden was also coming off the ‘08 rat campaign in which he participated in a number of debates over the summer...ryan looked like a child in the debate because he is a child...Mike Pence looks and acts as presidential as anyone that’s been on the ticket since 1984...
To put it simply, he wins if the debate nets him more votes. His target audience was undecided voters. To sway them, all he had to prove to them was that he isn’t an unpredictable, heartless brute. I think he accomplished that easily.
She emptied her quiver and he held back and kept the powder dry. Each debate he can roll out a new front and she’ll be lobbing the same old charges.
Rope-a-dope.
Hillary did good.
She was sober, alert and apparently healthy. Plus she had lengthy answers ready to each question (curiously enough).
That said, she also came off as rather humorless and lecturing. Plus that attempt to suggest Trump was hiding something by shrugging her shoulders shows she’s also an even worse actor than Madonna (if that’s possible).
Trump left a lot of targets unattacked, he’s got to be more on-focus for #2.
UPI/CVoter state polls: Donald Trump ahead of Hillary Clinton in Electoral College
Between the rigged microphone and the extremely biased moderator, the whole da$& debate was rigged to make Trump look bad. He needs to tell the liberal MSM to eff off and no more debates unless there are rules to keep him from being made to look bad.
The update on the online polls, for whatever they are worth, shows Trump up 65-35 percent in the CNBC poll with 700,000 votes cast (he was actually down 54-46 last night after the debate) and he is holding at 52-48 with over 1.3 million votes cast in the online Time Magazine poll. Obviously, these numbers probably do not include many of Hillary’s inner city supporters or even older Trump supporters who don’t go online, but they are unscientific but would seem to put away the notion that the hysterics like Chris Matthews are spewing that this was a runaway for Hillary.
Decent take on things.
I think this is by design. He mentioned at the end that he was being very nice, but she has just been attacking.
This gives him an opening to go after the Clinton Crime Family later.
I have been posting here consistently since last year that “debates” should be abolished. I think they are a terrible idea, terribly executed, and can’t be fixed.
That having been said, the idea, so popular here, that a snake like HDR would fold in that environment was always ridiculous. That environment was designed and engineered for people exactly like her.
As bold as my boy Donald is, as good as he is when the red light comes on, his first ever “Presidential debate” had to be preceded by a “sh*t’s gettin’ REAL” moment.
I didn’t watch, I don’t care, I’m willing to crawl over broken glass to vote for him - but the expectations game here was absurd - and maybe, like Doc Hollliday in “Tombstone”, she wasn’t as sick as she let on.
If you sift through all the online commentary, the thing that stands out most is how biased the moderator was.
No one likes a home-town ref and Americans detest seeing someone ganged up on.
Therefore, I think Trump comes out on top.
Looks like trump won every poll listed except CNN and AOL so you can bet the media will only mention those
