There were concerns that Lester Holt would be this debate's Candy Crowley. He was a good deal worse.
Every question was shaped to frame a left-wing agenda. Holt hurled numerous attacks at Trump. He only passingly offered Hillary a chance to address her emails when Trump had already brought it up.
The debate was structurally biased and Holt biased it. He repeatedly argued with Trump about the facts. Despite the ban on fact-checking, Holt attempted to debate Trump on the Iraq War and on the birth certificate. It was a disgraceful and a biased performance. It is a reminder that the structure of the debates must be changed to prevent mainstream media from dominating it.
Reads fine for me.
Dr. Sowell .. Excellent !
Lester Holt, the preprogrammed dolt. Wonder where they load the cassette tape with his programming? I know where it SHOULD go...

No one seriously thought Lefter Holt, representing NBC, who throw anything at Hillary besides softballs did they?
Get rid of moderators altogether and replace them with a modified chess clock timer.
Not only do liberal moderators jump in to act as a second debater against the conservative, but its inherently biased to let a liberal supposed journalist pose the questions in the first place. Not a single question was posed on Hilllarys illegal email server, or immigration, or the billions unaccounted for at the Clinton Foundation.
Let the debaters bring their own questions for the other. Begin with a coin toss. 1 minute question, then 3 minute answer, then 2 minute rebuttal, 1 minute counter-rebuttal, 30 second summery/final rebuttal. (These times are merely suggestions, but you get the idea. The mic will switch on and off on a set schedule, known and agreed upon by both debaters.)
The microphone goes hot and cold on this schedule. A soft chime alerts the speaker with the hot mic when they have 10 seconds left in any stage segment, and large countdown clocks will be visible to both sides showing who has the hot mic and their time remaining.
At the end of each 7 or 8 minute stage, provide a minute for a water break or note jotting while the clock resets. The next debater can then use his or her new 1 minute question period to revisit the previous topic, and run the stage again on that topic, or, they can switch to an entirely new topic with a fresh question.
Repeat the process, alternating sides, until both are exhausted and agree to quit, or until an agreed-upon time limit is reached.
Just get rid of 3rd wheel moderators, their interference, and their built-in bias.
Actually Trump missed an opportunity with the Birth Certificate. He should have turned it around and asked why he should apologize for the president taking over two years to do what every 8 year old must do when signing up for little league. Then turn it another 90 degrees and point out that this is what is wrong with race relations, when something that should be a simple taking care of business action gets shrouded in racial overtones.
Trump is a good counter puncher, but he missed many opportunities last night.

It’s easy to get sidetracked when it’s 2 on 1 and they’re slinging lies at you. ... I agree with Travis McGee comment/solution immediately above.
Is anyone surprised? The media is in the tank and on its knees for the crooked criminal liar, hILLary.
I watched only because I thought I'd see her collapse.
Where does the bias line end and the prejudice line begin?
Holt crossed that point - in the very first question.
Your article is the reason why, In my opinion, Trump actually won this debate. Each and every one of those biased and unreasonable questions against Trump presented an opportunity for him to show the liberal shills to be the liars and psychotics that they really are.
There were no difficult, hardball questions for her. His head was stretched out there like a turkey being slaughtered and he survived the execution. They tried to paint him guilty, but failed.
I was a tad bit frustrated however, when Trump failed to point out that it was Clinton who BEGAN the birther movement. I think that alone would have undone her. I watched her lay that on him during one of her campaign speeches recently.
No, I do not think he did. Holt tried to tie a lie on Trump and Trump backed him down over and over then went into pissed mode and told people to go talk to Hannity.
The birth certificate no one cares about at this moment because that garbage is on his way out of the White House and what Hillary and Holt were tag teaming was a Trump is racist crap when she has the super predator statement.
Trump is a horrible politician but is that not the point for the over the top Trump loyalist since he does not have a conservative bone in his body? I agree with you it was a draw which makes it in Trump's favor since now all the MSM tricks and bias will get debated for weeks not to mention the nation is pissed about the direction we are going in and Clinton made perfectly clear it is full steam ahead of Obama's policies destroying us if you are stupid enough to vote her.
The only people to win this debate were Stein and the other wacko.
Lester Holt was like a little dog pulling on Trump’s pantleg about birtherism and tax returns.
As far as tax returns under audit go, I offer this...
“Speaking as a tax lawyer who represents taxpayers under audit, I would never advise a client whose returns are under audit to make those returns public,” said Robert Kovacev, a tax lawyer with Steptoe & Johnson in Washington, D.C. “If you release a tax return to the public, what you are essentially doing is crowdsourcing the audit.”
WHEN would this tax lawyer advise his client to release tax returns under audit?.....

The birther issue is Kryptonite to Trump. He should stay as far away as possible.
The electorate could care less about this, just ignore it.
We LOST this issue long ago.
Why is it RACIST? Race has ZERO to do with it. Old news anyway now.
NO! Why does it have to be some celebrity?
Lester Hold revealed that he lacks the objectivity and competence to host a debate.
What a snake he is. Candy Crowly the 2nd.
Who in their right mind would expect any level of balance from ANY media staff regards a debate, especially a presidential one, for all the marbles?
What is also notable about the debates back then and into the 1970s was that the panel of questioners was made up of reporters from several newspapers and magazines, not the "star" of a single news outlet.
