DEMOCRAT HILLARY CLINTON and Republican Donald Trump will debate on national television for the first time Monday night, and the stakes could not be higher. The presidency and, by extension, the country’s future — maybe the world’s — could hinge on what they say and how they say it.
Or so we have been told — in breathless pre-event speculation about everything from whether the moderator, NBC’s Lester Holt, will intervene to correct a candidate who strays from the truth, to whether one candidate or the other will be able to goad his or her opponent into a campaign-altering gaffe before an audience expected to reach 100 million.
Permit us to dissent from this conventional wisdom, vigorously. Yes, Monday night’s clash, and two additional debates to follow, will add drama to the election, and a bit more data to the massive pile of it already available to voters. In a fundamental sense, however, there is nothing much at stake, or shouldn’t be, because there is not much more to learn: Mr. Trump has amply demonstrated his unworthiness to occupy the Oval Office. It’s beyond his capacity in the upcoming 90-minute question-and-answer sessions to reverse or even substantially modify that conclusion.

I am familiar with the incident, and you are right.
Imagine knowing a couple like that in your community. They’d both be in prison.
Today one of them is running for president, and actually has a remote chance of winning.
The absurdity of this situation is astoundingly bad.

1. He didn't hire someone to insult people his spouse raped and assaulted.
2. He didn't get his staff kill, then say, "What difference does it make now?"

I dropped the Post a month ago.
After two calls, two letters asking me why I quit and offering me below cost subscription rates, and learning that a lot of others did likewise, it’s amazing that they maintain this delusional, irrational editorial policy.
Once I found that I could read Dilbert and Pearls Before Swine everyday at their websites, I realized there was no justifiable reason to continue the Post.
The National Enquirer is more accurate.
He’s not Hillary and he hasn’t donated money to the MSM so hence he is obviously NOT fit!
The moderators in the debates are going to go after Trump so often, he will have to interrupt them to give Hillary a chance to answer a question before she falls asleep and collapses.

It’s beyond debate that the Washington Post is a dinosaur media outlet that is in sharp decline and headed for the ash heap of history.
Hillary! is a criminal, and probably a traitor, with no real accomplishments. As things go, she even an incompetent criminal - she has been caught repeatedly, only to be protected by the media, her husband, her position in the government, and the corruption of that same government.
And they think TRUMP is not fit for President?
After tonight, I expect this to be the new media meme, and it will get louder and LOUDER.

The Academic Socialists have NEVER given up power peacefully, without bloodshed. NOT ONCE IN HISTORY, folks.
There are too many powerful people facing long prison terms if Trump gets elected, too many rich and powerful people facing the end of the gravy train.

It’s sad, because even though it has leaned liberal in all of my lifetime, it was once a great paper with *some* scruples.
At this point, all I’ll miss is ‘Book World’ and ‘Mutts’ - and birdcage liners.
