On the eve of the first presidential debate, a new Morning Call/Muhlenberg College poll shows a narrow gap between Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump amid rising support for Trump within his own party....

In a four-way matchup, Clinton leads by 2 points, at 40 percent to Trump's 38 percent. Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson dropped to 8 percent — down from 14 percent a week ago — and Green Party nominee Jill Stein went from 5 to 3 percent.

He has Johnson finishing with 7.5 % nationally. I guess Johnson gets between 3 to 6.

Still too high for Johnson. I bet Trump & Hillary total at least 97%, leaving 3% for everyone else.

I don’t know how this can be...I have several friends in PA. from different areas, most all are voting for Trump...

The big cities are all Hillary, but then again there are some Trump people there...

I wouldn’t be so sure that Hillary will win PA simply because those people are ‘coal people’ and they are out of work and she is going to ‘shut them down’...

...and another one bites the dust...

GO.TRUMP/PENCE.GO!!! ALL THE WAY TO THE OVAL OFFICE!!!

Nate Silver gave Trump a 2% chance of becoming the GOP nominee. He is not very bright.

She’s only up 2 with a D+8 sample??(

More importantly, they only polled 10% Independent. Independents will make up almost 1/3 of the actual votes. I forget the actual numbers, but among Independents, Trump was getting around 70% of the vote.

Not in Pennsylvania. see post 19. By definition, indies are only 13% of the voter registration.

Indie turnout is typically higher than 10%. I want to say cost to 20, guess I’ll go look for exit polls...

Romney beat Obama by 7.8% in Georgia in 2012. Trump damn well better be leading by more than 6% over Hillary.

Here is Northampton County in 2012. Like Luzerne, it mirrored almost exactly the statewide result.

If Trump is +8 here (and +17 in Luzerne), it might not even be close.

Small sample but solid results.. shows that the polls reflecting her ahead are absolute BS... media manufactured polls... Trump will crush her

Not sure about that... under that premise, over 60% didn’t want Trump

Hillary’s been advertising heavily on Philly TV and she and/or Obama have been in the state at least once every week for the past month - and she’s still losing ground to Trump (who’s done hardly any advertising but has been visiting the state regularly every week or so).....

In 2012 Johnson got less than 1%. Hard to believe that he will get seven times that number in 2016. His latest weird tongue episode will sink him.
