For weeks we have been treated to "Its his right to free speech" as Colin Kaepernick and a few others have taken a knee for the National Anthem (or in the case of the Philadelphia Eagles, a black power salute by three players).
The NFL has backed these "protestors" even though the NFL has lost significant viewership, and hence, revenue, because of these antics. In addition, on a moral level, Kaepernick and company's "protest" has been on behalf of a hate group--black lives matter as well as other thugs who have called for murdering of policemen (several policemen have been killed because of it) groups who, on multiple occasions now, have engaged in rioting and looting in addition to hunting down whites in order to viciously assault them.
All through it I have been wondering-- what if someone in professional sports had protested in some way against black lives matter? What would happen to them?
Well wonder no more. Because now it has happened. MLB Mariner, Steve Clevenger, tweeted his dislike for black lives matter and the disgusting behavior of the rioters. So wnhat happened? Was there support for his free speech? No. Was there talk of his rights? Nope. Not even for second. He was fired almost immediately.

Well, the Cubs are pretty much eliminated on Day 1:-)
Sort of lost my admiration for people playing games for money after my time in Vietnam.
That’s when I gave up. Got tired of the player strikes and realized that life didn’t end without them.
As the Aussies say, “Good on ya.”
NCAA. . Nothing collegiate there. Sports have turned into nothing more than a breeding ground for the non-academic pro wannabees. . . . many are taking up air, scholarships, etc. in the community colleges, colleges and universities. . .with NO intention of obtaining a meaningful degree (everything at the tax payer’s expense). It is an absolute joke with no role models for the young except to provide the impetus to steal sneakers!!!!!
Folks have figures out they can bully people for expressing the wrong sort of views. Hear the other day that some campus snowflake got his panties in a twist because of a picture of football players wearing sombreros.
I imagine hell flip his lid about whites eating authentic Mexican food next.
I’m a big baseball fan myself. I played organized league softball and baseball for about 20 years. I love going to an evening game. The atmosphere at the ball park is just a great way to relax and enjoy your time.
Suck up some brews, get a few hot-dogs, maybe get some peanuts too...
I grew up listening to St. Louis Cardinal baseball games in the 50s with my grandfather. We lived in in the country. In the pitch black, you could hear the play by play on the old radio.
Harry Carry, Jack Buck did the play by play. It was a magical time for me, something I’ll never forget. It has stayed with me for sixty years.
I’ve had a bat and ball in my hands many times over the years. There isn’t another sport like it, the vernacular, the old stories, the colorful characters...
The chumps that run these sports are just that.
Too bad Chumps are so in vogue these days.
wow you all just made me
delete SI and NFL.com off my favorites
we lived in the middle of no where and order NFL next day.....at 70 dollars a year....not this year. that will hurt a little.
bastards take all my retirement fun away...ooo well they did move to MO then I moved to Mo ....then they moved back to LA...not moving back
The Beautiful People Division, which serves a similar purpose (occasionally sans the violence) is currently headed by some Armenian American Princess named Kim Kardashian. She is known for the substantial size of her gluteus maximus muscles, so large they have been assigned their own zip code and are believed to have an independent weather system. As is the case with the Heavyweight Division, watching and reading about the comings and goings of the members of this division is also believed to enhance the lives of the average citizen.
In the early days of the American Republic, there was also a Political Division. It was disbanded due to loss of interest after the election of progressive hero Woodrow Wilson, father of the One World forerunner of the beloved United Nations, the League of Nations, the Federal Reserve and drumroll, please THE INCOME TAX!
In that vein, a wag once lamented the numbers of citizens (and I use the term VERY loosely) who take no interest in politics by correctly remarking You may not be interested in politics but, trust me when I say that POLITICS HAS A KEEN INTEREST IN YOU!' That's a variation of a comment by Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. who also correctly opined in 1884 ...as life is action and passion, it is required of a man that he should share the passion and action of his time at peril of being judged not to have lived.
Want to do something that might actually have some impact on YOUR LIFE more important than watching those 300 pounders beat the crap out of each other? You can start by visiting this site and learning how YOUR rep and senators are screwing you and your kids and grandkids out of their birthright:

Not a problem. I gave up on collegiate and professional sports decades ago. Both cost too much and offer too little to both me and society. Both have produced misplaced importance for us all.
It is Fall now isn’t it? Has football season started yet?
Social media will bite you in the butt every time.
We were told at my last job that: Social media can and will put you in a bind, if you start spouting off. And if the company gets involved somehow (because they employ the “offender”) than the company is going to let you go.
Not that necessarily disagree, but at that point they have skin in the game that do not wish to participate in.
So we just shut up on line, or went undercover.
I quite NFL cold turkey. Time to throw out the baseball, too. Waste of time anyway. Time that could be better spent mt. biking, or skiing, or engaged in shooting sports.
I watch a little MLB and NHL.
NFL and NBA got boycotted a couple of decades back.
I gave up the few cable shows I still watched, everyone who hates the liberal media should do the same, even if it means missing "the big game". The people who run these media cartels hate us, the entertainers hate us, and now even some of the athletes hate us. We should return the favor.
It’s time for parents and grandparents and concerned citizens to start up after school and weekend intramurals again. Kids need role models and need to know someone actually cares about them instead of seeing the “illiterates” getting rewarded for bad behavior on and off the court or playing field.
I haven’t watch either for about 20 years already.
I think people should know this is a new position for him...one that started when he started dating his new girlfriend who appears to be a radicalized Muslim. Colin just converted is Islam, so perhaps he’s buying into all that crap. I don’t know much about his girlfriend, but would like to know more from people who do know.
I hear you FRiend. I am going to miss watching my teams. But I know if I did continue to watch them, every time I tried to sit and enjoy them, I would be thinking about the liberal crap that has gone on (and is going to happen probably more and more) and it will destroy my enjoyment.
Plus every time liberalism/PC wins, we lose another piece of our country and its ideals. I just can’t be a part of that anymore, no matter where it happens, and what sacrifice I may have to make.
