Ted Cruz supporters were alarmed Wednesday at suggestions that he was on the verge of endorsing Donald Trump.
They worry that the Texas senator could squander his brand as a fighter and goodwill earned among many through his stubborn refusal to back his party's nominee if he caves with nothing to show for it.
Cruz has held out on the grounds that Trump is insufficiently conservative, and because Trump attacked his wife and father down the stretch of their heated battle for the Republican nomination.
The senator even took the extraordinary step of declining to endorse Trump during a televised, prime time speech delivered from the stage of the New York businessman's own nominating convention.

No, there is not.
How does anybody know? Has there been a poll? What does "dislike" mean in terms of consequences?
A YUGE number of people love Trump, no doubt, but the argument you were having was about comparative “dislike” in both directions and I contend that there is no easy way to quantify that and that even if you could there is no way to tie that to consequences.
Very sad little children over there. They were the CAPOs who escorted other Jews to the ovens.
Sad to see people who were so invested in Cruz as a messiah that they can’t even apply reason. Catherine of Aragon and Cripplecreek come to mind.
Talk about following a false prophet.
Ted is not on the ballot.....
Ted is not the wonder boy many cruzbots think he is
Agree 100%.
It was sad and is sad. look at that Cruz supporter in Colorado named Unrue sp. Talk about whacked out.
“I saw this link down thread here with lots of former FR posters on it, just take a look, they have become genuinely nuts; maybe they always were”
Thanks for posting the link. I took a look around and noticed a lot of familiar handles there. Doesn’t seem to be highly populated. I checked a thread regarding FR, and counted maybe a dozen people posting dozens of times, which ballooned the number of comments.
At least a couple of posters there were good friends of mine. I sincerely hate to see them go, and even worse, to see some of them denigrating JimRob and FR from afar.
I’ve been through forum wars before. This isn’t the first time I’ve seen a faction peel off and start their own group. Sadly, it’s usually a nasty business, with many broken friendships resulting.
I wish my old friends well, and am sorry to see that their hardened views of our candidate have driven them to leave us.
One other thing. To be fair, I also noticed that they allow open support for Trump at that site. One of the mods even sports a Trump graphic in their sig.
Bottom line — I’ve got no hard feelings toward my former FRiends.
Is that a “new” forum? Just wondering, because its kind of funny that all the “staunch” conservatives would migrate to a forum with “GOP” being the name.
I agree mostly with what you say, regarding former FReepers, but some of them were just over the top with their comments, really, just unhinged.
Don’t think I could have ridden on that plane.
No way...
“I agree mostly with what you say, regarding former FReepers, but some of them were just over the top with their comments, really, just unhinged.”
Oh, I totally agree. I was only talking about the ones I once called friend. Many of them argued with me about Trump during the primary, but they weren’t unhinged for the most part.
The zottees, on the other hand...
It will get “quantified”, in TEXAS, at senatorial election time. Nowhere else.
Cruz will have gazillion$$$ to spend on rehabilitating his sorry carcass, so “yes”, he needs a decent and capable opponent and some PAC push back to level the cash field advantage, but soo many are hoping that happens.
Right now McCaul is the man. He sits on the Homeland Security Committee, appears regularly on FOXMegyn Corp cable and has a profile of seriousness, and is totally free of the Cruz/Obama/Hillary clinically proportioned level narcissism.
We will be actvely trying to banish the sob to the nearest corner, where he can hawk to the rubes the flag, the Bible and the Constitution.
Cruz was small on paper, but big in the mouth. He rode those three under-pinnings hard and undercut everyone of them.
that does it...
i’m voting for hillary
I think Cruz was the victim of less than one term in office. He just wasn’t politically smart.
First, if smart he would have recognized his Canadian citizenship and gone after an eventual scotus appointment or after a long while, the majority leader chair.
Second, the Canada thing kills him for all future potus elections. It might kill his senatorial chances in Texas. I don’t know.
Wow what a visual!!”Cat passion in the night” Cruz. Funny
Maybe he was bitten by the first term bug.
I see him as a zealous “climber”, cunning, who certainly got his head out over his skies.
Cruz now polls lower than John Cornyn, in TEXAS. Cornyn lends Ted as much support as Cruz lent him. That would be.. “zip”.
Cruz backed no one during the last senatorial cycle. Recall he was serving time in the clink with McConnell, kissing up after the “shutdown fiasco”, as the vice-chairman of vices, on the SREC, during the MISSISSIPPI TREATMENT.
Cruz gave $200,000 to that committee effort and has supported no more than two or three campaigns, since.
Just sayin’.
well there ya have it ;)
