If America were a song, the killing of unarmed black people by the police would be a standard chord progression or rhythm, the sort of indistinguishable background noise that you hear so often you might not even notice it anymore.
On Friday, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a 40-year-old black man named Terence Crutcher had car troubles. The police approached him. Crutcher responded by putting his hands in the air. The Tulsa police used a Taser on Crutcher. A Tulsa police officer, Betty Shelby, then shot him dead. They left him bleeding in the street for almost a minute before rendering any aid. The incident was recorded on video.
Crutcher had committed no crime. He was unarmed. He was a motorist in distress. He was driving home from a music-appreciation class at a local college. This street execution took less than 30 seconds.
Several months ago, I decided that I would no longer watch videos of black people being killed by America’s police. These images have become a type of pornographic violence, a new digital-era version of lynching postcards. I know all too well what dead black bodies look like. To be repeatedly exposed to such images is psychologically unhealthy.

One wonders whether or not this writer should sue those who pretended to give them an education.
This is a very questionable shoot and should be investigated further.
Look for the Obama Justice Department to jump in to investigate and the federal investigation will be continued by the Trump Justice Department.

Oh yes they do! Our daughter’s BF is from Nicaragua and is of mixed race. He’s an engineer with Apple with a degree from UC Berkeley. He get’s hassled by the cops and merchants all the time for no other reason than his color and his hair. He himself has never been in trouble with the law. So if I understand you “being hinky” is grounds for the “hinky black person” dying. Just dispicable! Try treating people as individuals for a change.
Were his hazard lights on or operable? Was his car hood up?
What type of white person do you want to be?

By the way, just why the hell was he walking away from a bunch of officers with guns pointed at him?
Latest updates say video shows him reaching in car. Pcp found in car. His record of criminal behavior long. As a policeman u are told this but you are just suppose to sit back and potentially lose ur life by letting the thug clearly make his intent known, which could mean u being shot. The facts do need to come out but don’t get suckered into ehat facts the media leaves out.

He did not have car trouble. He stopped his suv in the middle of the street half in his lane and half in the oncoming traffic. He left the engine running and got out and started yelling crazy nonsense. His hands were not in the air when he was shot, and I seriously doubt the police were ordering him to go back to his vehicle. If he had gotten back in his vehicle, who knows how many people this “unarmed victim” would have killed.
Perhaps we should allow the investigation to complete its work.
Do you have the source for this information? PCP could be why he ignored the cops and the taser.

Both funny AND true.
I don’t care if he reached in the car. I don’t care if he had a rap sheet. There were four cops, three male with vests on. The cops had guns. He was against the car. I am not going to say this was murder. But it was at best, horrible police work. And at worst it was manslaughter.
And nobody tried to help or comfort the man once we was down. That cop needs to be off the street looking for a job she can do. The city needs to pay that mans family a million dollars. And black men are not by nature dangerous. But if you are a black man clearly cops are very dangerous.

A lot of folks have ASSUMED this was a “hands up, don’t shoot” case only based upon limited video from an overhead helicopter. I expect things won’t be quite so clear cut when ALL the evidence comes out. I’m holding off forming an opinion until they release the dash cam video/audio & any available body cam recordings.
