NFL Ratings Drop Faster Than Colin Kaepernick Hearing ‘The Star Spangled Banner’
Breitbart ^ | SEPTEMBER 21, 2016 | DANIEL J. FLYNN

The NFL sees its ratings going down faster than Colin Kaepernick after hearing “O say can you see.”

The Eagles-Bears ratings declined by double digits from last year’s Week Two Monday Night Football contest and represents the lowest number since the franchise moved from ABC to ESPN. The NFL experienced drops, albeit smaller ones, for the Sunday slate, too.

But the elephant in the room—actually three Dolphins, a Bronco, and two 49ers—continue to be the competitors in America’s Game insulting America’s song. Fans do not watch because of a quarterback who does not play. No one likes uninvited guests coming into their living room to insult them.

Talking heads and NFL spin doctors do not care to own up to this. But Colin Kaepernick becoming the face of the NFL actually does more to harm the league’s bottom line than Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson, or Aaron Hernandez did by dominating news cycles. The criminal behavior of a small percentage of football players occurs away from the stadium. Colin Kaepernick’s perfectly legal protest happens on an NFL field in an NFL uniform on NFL broadcasts.

America is a free country. A multimillionaire remains free to kneel during the national anthem. Joe Six Pack remains free to turn off the television.

America is a free country. A multimillionaire remains free to kneel during the national anthem. Joe Six Pack remains free to turn off the television.

And since the NFL is a private organization and not a government entity, the current commissioner would be totally in his rights to discipline such ingrates.

This disrespect for America has and will continue to result in declining ratings for the NFL, and will do more to expedite Roger Goodell's departure than anything else.

Maybe the NFL should hire Tony George as a consultant.

I once saw a polo match, and realized this was another way to watch millionaires move a ball across a field. And there are horses, too. Pro football lost its appeal to me after that.

Leave it to liberals to screw up a football game.

People watch for the art of the contest. Political statements defile it.

I stopped watching Sunday and Monday night football because of the extended commercial breaks every change of possession and then some. MNF used to start at 9 pm on the east coast and end by 12:15 am. Now it starts at 8:30 pm and still does not end until after mid-night. The commercial breaks do not seem to be as long for NCAA football on Saturday and the NFL Sunday afternoon games, probably because long commercial breaks would cause viewers to change channels to another game.

I hear ya. For me, it was motorsports (especially rally racing) and air racing that long ago gained my attention.

Americans love their football. Americans love America more. Football became the last national sport I follow about ten years ago. High school basketball and football are now the alpha and omega of my sports universe. Good riddance to the multi-million dollar azzholes.

I was once an avid NFL watcher but have been losing interest for years. The thuggish nature of the players, the excessive length of games and the overdoing of commercials were all turn-offs. Plus, the concussion issue is real and as a physician I just can’t ignore it. And now the national anthem issue is the last straw. I’m done.

Love the NFL, but won’t be browbeaten by a leftist agenda. NO NFL for me-

“The NFL is short on role models, short on morality, short on patriotism and hopefully short on dominating so much of our culture and economy.
(former fan who hasn’t seen a game in at least 15 years and can’t name more than three active players) “

Thank you! I could not have said it better! “Professional Sports” are just another “narcotic” for the idiot class in this country. There is far too much real stuff that we need to think about and address, for l far too many of us to sit in front of the TV “playing with ourselves” while watching these disgraceful, ovepaid minorities trash our country. If the NFL were to go broke, it would be one of the best things that could ever happen to our country! And same goes for baseball and basketball!

Pretty pretty pretty stupid. If you love American football, you should at least respect America enough to respect the flag so many died for.

I’d be more inclined to watch if I knew one team was proud that all of its members respected the American flag. I’d watch them play. Hmmm. Any team going to step up to the plate?

There is very little racism towards individuals of any group in this country if they are behaving courteously. There is no reason to protest, just because street thugs (of any color, what about the homeless white guy named Kelly who was killed by a group of cops in Fullerton CA?) don’t get the same respect as people living clean lives. Muslims is one group here that many actually fear or dislike because they seem to tolerate terrorists in their midst. That isn’t even racism; that is earned prejudice.

In the grand scheme of things, how important IS watching other men play with balls?

“The women in the household are watching Dancing with the Stars.”

Yes, along with sucking up all the effluent from NPR and The View! Too many of our women are as bad as their male counterparts.
