Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said Tuesday that the Senate will take up an expected veto override of legislation that lets families of 9/11 victims sue Saudi Arabia in U.S. courts before breaking for the elections.
"Both of those we'll have to deal with before we depart," the Senate Republican Leader told reporters. He was referring to the veto override and a separate push to block a proposed arms sale to Saudi Arabia.
The Senate had been expected to leave town this week, but McConnell said it was "safe to say" that the Senate would be in town next week. The House and Senate have both approved the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act. The White House is expected to veto the legislation by Friday the deadline for it to take action.
The administration argues the bill could open up U.S. citizens abroad to retaliatory legal attacks.
A handful of senators, including Republicans and Democrats, have echoed the White House's concerns, but stopped short of saying they would oppose the override.
Translation: Saudi Princes, OPEN YOUR CHECKBOOKS if you want me and Paulie to kill this. It will cheaper than the suits! :)
Jugears wants to make this a police action, but does not want to allow citizens due process. Hey, I got an idea, we drop the lawsuits and kill all the Jihadists. Win-win-win. Obama keeps us from suing, we get to kill the Muzzies, and the Muzzies get to go to all those virgins!
Never Trust McConJob
So far, they are saying they will do the right thing. We want a veto override. Don’t you?
Of course—and some will do the right thing.
Some will not.

Further translation..
We have to put on a dog and pony show before we leave without doing anything.
McConnell is talking tough ..were getting screwed somehow.
Eyes on the prize.
Hmmm...the Saudi Royal family is in a cash crunch right now due to oil prices...and all of the sudden 15 years post 9-11, congress turns against them.
Interesting coincidence.
It will fail to be overridden.
Because they’re culpable and it acts as a deterrent for other future state actors. If you were to lose your child to murder, would a million dollars in blood money make it square?
“Translation: We have our own oil now”
True, but the current crop of Republicans are getting very nervous and would like to show that they really do have a spine. It should fly through the House, all of them are coming up for election.
I believe you’re right, it’ll fail in the senate.
#11 yeap, just like clockwork. You can tell the Presidential Election in coming in a couple of Months.
Someone loans Yertle the Turtle a spine. He will return in on Nov. 9th.
Roger that. Good point.
That's how I see it also. Do we want to be sued for our invading nations & killing citizens ? Congress is impossible.
ALL
If you have Netflix, I recommend watching the documentary “Saudi Arabia” made with hidden cameras.
McConnell has actually slipped up by letting everybody know that Congress can override presidential vetoes.
Forget suing them. It’s just a lawyer full employment act. Take out the Moon Rock.
