The U.S. State Department waited over a year before producing emails stored on former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s private server despite 17 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.
According to documents obtained by Judicial Watch, “in August 2013, State Department officials were aware of 17 FOIA requests relating to requests for Clinton correspondence, including four that ‘specifically mention emails or email accounts.’ “Despite the large number of FOIA requests and growing concern among top agency officials, the State Department did not formally request that the former secretary of state produce the emails on the clintonemail.com server until October 2014.”
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said that “these new emails suggest that the Obama State Department knew about the Clinton email problem at least three years but covered it up.

I think Trump is going to go light on them in the interest of pragmatism. He’s too smart to waste this leverage. For him to get his policies through Congress, he’ll basically use their criminality as blackmail to get the wall built, trade treaties tossed and complete re-staffing at the State Dept., the Pentagon and elsewhere.

Yet despite signs, Clinton’s former chief of staff Cheryl Mills obstructed efforts by investigators to obtain Clinton’s emails, the FBI invited Mills to attend Hillary’s interview at FBI headquarters as one of her lawyers.
“It’s absolutely outrageous,” J/W President Tom Fitton said. “The FBI saw massive document destruction and clear intent to withhold material evidence,” he added, “and they just ignored that obstruction, and even let her sit in on the interview.”
The smoking gun is on page 16 of the FBI’s 47-page report. It details how Mills ultimately made the determinations about which emails should be preserved before she and Clinton decided to delete the rest as “personal.” Clinton conducted both government and personal business using a personal email account — clintonemail.com — tied to an unsecured server set up in the basement of her New York home.
The FBI makes clear the procedure Mills used to sort out the emails was suspicious. Mills was the one who ordered the server host to move the emails from the server to a laptop where she could screen them. She told investigators she could “not recall” if emails with non-gov addresses were included in the transfer. 2. She said she never even thought whether emails she exchanged on a future U.S. drone attack should be classified.
3. She said she thought the “C” before a paragraph indicated alphabetical order. The C actually stands for “confidential/classified.”
4. She said no one ever raised concerns to her about her use of a private email server.
5. She said she could not recall any training on how to handle classified information.
What’s more, Clinton aides told the FBI that the Secretary of State frequently replaced her Blackberry phone and the whereabouts of her old device would become “unknown.” The FBI report suggests there were at least 13 different devices used.
