ELIZABETH, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — A suspicious device was found on the Northeast Corridor train tracks in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Sunday night.
The suspicious item was found in the area of North Broad and Westfield Avenue.
Area businesses have reportedly been ordered to shut down and evacuate as bomb technicians have a robot checking the suspicious device.
A hazmat team has also been requested to the scene.
Police are evacuating and securing the area around the train line.
Service has been temporarily suspended between Newark Airport and Elizabeth stations in both directions.

I can come up with some theories about the 3 bombs in a backpack and what that means, but it would only be speculation. Either they were all going to go up together when set off or they had not yet all been put in there permanent place. No doubt the plan was to set them off tomorrow during rush hours.
The robot may have removed one bomb from the backpack and then it blew up unexpectedly while being moved away from the rest. One article said officials were visibly stunned when the explosion happened so I find it hard to believe that it was a planned explosion.
It was set to go off at a certain time, thank God those homeless men found it in time and alerted police..read earlier today someone called the cops and said “More is coming” sounds like there is a big terror cell in the area and they are placing bombs in trash cans..but hey, according to Clinton nothing to fear lets bring more of them here

According to one report Bombs are not well constructed, maker is not an expert.
YUP basic flip phones still available. What some people like about them is that when they are closed everything is protected including the screen and from erroneous key strikes on the key pad.

MSNBC reported that a robot was attempting to neutralize the bomb when it went off...very large explosion. Robot is a goner.
ELIZABETH, N.J. — A device exploded early Monday as a bomb squad robot examined a suspicious package that appeared to contain pipe bombs near an Elizabeth transit station, Mayor Chris Bollwage said.
A spokesman for Bollwage earlier said the explosion was a controlled detonation, but at a news briefing a few minutes later, Bollwage said the robot was “cutting into the device when it exploded.”
“This was an explosive device” containing as many as five devices, he said. “Based on the loudness, I think people could have been seriously hurt” had anyone been in the vicinity.
Hillary Clinton: “It is premature to label that device a bomb. You must be a Trump supporter!”
Seems now there may have even been 5 bombs in the back pack according the mayor.
