Elizabeth Warren, as you know, is the self-righteous crusader for the least among us who appropriated the culture of the least among us, Native Americans, to try to advance her law professor career in the 1980s and 1990s. When she achieved a tenured position at Harvard Law School, she dropped Native Americans like a hot potato.

My father and brother are registered Cherokee, dad around 1/8th, brother about 1/16th. I’m not, because my family didn’t bother to join until affirmative action REALLY kicked in and the school was asking people if they were part Native American to be able to up enrollment of “minorities” for stats. So my blonde haired blue eyed brother was registered as Cherokee, along with Dad, to get the privileges that come with “anything other than white”. It helped my Dad avoid the first few rounds of layoffs in the defense industry, though he eventually lost his job. In his case, the black hair and light brown skin and inability to grow a beard meant it wasn’t an issue in his case.
As a woman in engineering, it didn’t make a difference to me, so I never did it. I have heard that rules have tightened, but it may mean I’m the only one in the family NOT a member.
If being a tribal member opts you out of Obamacare under Clinton, then I will fight for it if not join a Medishare type program. Can’t go Amish / Mennonite, I rely on tech too much for work. Or can we create a new liberal Mennonite that rejects the state but allows internet and full electricity?
The irony of all this is that my husband has black hair, brown eyes, keeps getting stopped by airport security as Muslim, and the hospital kept trying to get me to register my son as Hispanic and mentioned the advantages of doing so. We didn’t, but we knew what it might be costing us.
The irony of the left - you can feel like you’re the opposite gender and the left demands they treat you as what you feel, but don’t you dare identify as another culture, though many cultures had rituals for adopting you into the tribe.
So changing racial/tribal identities IS culturally appropriate, while gender short of a castration isn’t.

Even worse than lying. By bringing up her ancestry, she only encuraged others to check it out and learn that her great, great grandfather - a white man - actually helped Andrew Jackson round up the Cherokees. That story was posted a couple times on FR.
