The Sheridan millage tax increase scheduled on September 20th of 3.8 Mills will transfer $30,500,000 from already overtaxed private sector to public sector bureaucrats. The Clarksville Millage Tax of 4.8 Mills would cost taxpayers $19,000,000. The Hot Springs Millage Tax Increase would add $54,000,000 on top of a $50 million sales tax increase passed June 28th 2016. The Wonderview School District Millage Tax would be $12,300,000. A grand total of $115,500,000 in tax increases will be voted on Tuesday September 20th!
This money will go towards a Public Education System that is plagued with leftist indoctrination, gender politics, unsecure gun free zones, overpaid administrative bureaucracy, common core policies, & a lack of important parts of actual education. The State of Arkansas already has a 6.5% sales tax, 40.2 cents a gallon on gas, a capital gains tax, & a progressive income tax! Federal taxes, State taxes, local taxes, fees, fines, inflation, and other expenses have increased while pay and benefits have decreased.
We are taxed enough already. Vote against these tax increases if you live in these areas. If not, you can let others know what's going on.

I’m hoping the more people see the product the Public Schools are turning out (Won’t respect the Flag/Country) the more voters will begin to let these leftist institutions ‘wither on the vine’
September 20?
Huh.
Typical Leftists depressing voter turnout.
Someone ought to petition to have such elections moved to coincide with other elections which have greater turnout.
I’ve always supported the public schools, in more ways than one. However, in seeing/reading about the recent products (graduates) of those schools (in Arkansas, my home state), it’s difficult to continue to do so. People can only go so far with taxation.
It is the malaise of a country that is privately estranged from Lord.
Not that people were no longer forced by law to make prayers in schools (such forced prayers would be vacuous at best) but that nobody wanted to make prayers everywhere they went.
God doesn’t have grandchildren. We point to schools and scream “ungodliness” but won’t bring our generation and family’s generations to look in a mirror.
Leftists are panned so badly that one wonders if they were half correct about anything at all.
I’m a lone voice in the wilderness saying they have a zeal for goodness, yet not according to knowledge.
The problem is not one of wanting to do good things; it is wrong ideas about how to do them. The classic modern philosophies of, e.g., Marx, called for an idolization of human society which perversely led to a perceived imperative to rob it for the sake of its own good, and an excuse to exalt certain elite humans over others. This seductive scheme is the downfall of many a well meaning soul who is yet not reaching to the Source of all goodness, the Lord.
I refuse, until they have actually arrived at the judgment seat with no acceptance of the Lord’s better plan, to say “eww, I hate liberals, they have cooties.” Because any of us could be in the same boat, one blessed realization away from the difference between good and evil. We were warned in the Garden along with Adam and Eve, and did not heed. There can never be a private knowledge of good and evil. It must be hung on the Lord.
And one sign of a fallen scheme of man is that it is excessively enmity-driven, that it is packed with hate beyond any demonstrable purpose.
Our modern secular “liberals” are not really liberal — do not conform to the classic idea of liberal which was to allow a certain scope for inquiry about goodness and beauty outside of narrow orthodoxy — because of the hate. They sometimes say they want hate gone, but on a secular level they can only try to hate it away, which is like trying to douse a blaze with gasoline. The classic idea of liberal made room for love.
It is vain to try to even make “conservativism” fly at any level, even in a government, without something that is liberal in the broader sense to sustain it. It is like trying to have breathable air while forbidding oxygen.
Please put me on your Arkansas ping list. Thanks!
So anyhow — about schooling methods and budgets. I don’t think it is a good thing that the public school model is the dominant one, giving it the opportunity to walk away with virtually all ideas of education. As long as we ARE going to have such schools, though, the devil and angels are in the details. Somehow we have to find out what real people are behind what real proposals, and what their real agendas are. We don’t see any of that, sadly; we just see some glittering generalities on one side, and a crowd of frowning people saying no on the other side. Then we wonder why the cynicism grows all around.
And so this is a bunch of yack, but it surely can’t be any worse than the rest of the yack.
What is a millage tax?
It will be hard to explain this to the average Joe in Johnson County who wants to be “for the children.”
Property taxes based on a unit called the "mil"
No, the voters can’t see the disconnect that you do.
Please put me on your Arkansas ping list —hubby and I moving there in retirement in about a year.....
