Patriotism is under fire in Western Michigan.
The OK Conference, representing 50 schools, has announced a crackdown on fans chanting, “USA” at football games. They are also implementing strict rules on flags and political banners.
“Coaches and fans are irate,” said Bill Simonson, the host of a statewide sports radio show. “People are tired of being told what flag to fly or what political side to lean towards.”
Mr. Simonson, who hosts “The Huge Show”, was the first to break this insane story.
The athletic conference’s crackdown comes after fans from a predominantly black school took offense after fans from a predominantly white school displayed a Betsy Ross flag and a “Make America Great Again” banner.
Critics called the flag racist and a local superintendent said it symbolized hate.
“To wave a historical version of our flag, that to some symbolizes exclusion and hate, injects hostility and confusion to an event where no one intended to do so,” wrote Forest Hills Public Schools Superintendent Daniel Behm in a letter to parents.
Simonson, host of "The Huge Show," told me local residents are furious.
“He painted a picture that the school is filled with insensitive people,” he said. ‘If Colin Kaepernick can have his freedom of speech and freedom of expression – guess what – it’s a two-way street.”
OK Commissioner Jim Haskins said their executive board decided that moving forward fans will only be allowed to chant “USA, USA” after the National Anthem.

Critics calling the Betsy Ross flag “racist” are just plain stupid. They are products of the American/Michigan education system and they are the problem, not the flag.
Years ago I was a teacher/counselor at a continuation high school. We were mostly white, a few Mexicans, but no blacks at our school. The school was small-maybe 25 students max. The kids were 15-18 going on 30. We were hardasses from the suburbs. The kids all had more tatoos than your average professional wrestler.
Somebody’s stupid idea was to start a continuation flag football league amongst other continuation high schools. Our girls practiced some cheers for the players. The usual stuff, you know.
So we headed into the hood with an uneasy feeling. Our opponents were all black. Everything started out ok, but then the opposing cheerleaders started in with, “kill the honky mfers!” And of course our cheerleaders retaliated with some racist crap. Well, when it got to the n word all hell broke lose, stones started flying, numerous fights broke out all over the place. People yelled run for the bus! We got out of there with a broken window and some fat lips, so I guess we were lucky.
These posts reminded me of this day...how things can escalate quickly when emotions run high. When cultural feelings that are usually held tight to the vest around your own culture, get aired out in public, it can lead to trouble fast.
It is still permitted to call a football referee a zebra. However you must first sign a paper of Grey that the zebra to which you refer is black with white stripes and not white with black stripes.
All this tells you is that liberals hate the USA. If you are a citizen you should not be offended by the flag or the chant of USA USA or any other patriotic action. If you are here legally, but not a citizen, you should also not be offended. And, if you are trying to become a citizen, your loyalty should be with the USA, not your home country or nationality. And, finally, if you are here illegally you should have no say; nor should any statement of display of patriotism by Americans offend you since your patriotism for your country is questionable since you left your country to live in OUR country illegally.
Wouldn’t it be fun to see this happen at a pro game when a slug takes a knee?
Sorry for 2nd post, but wanted to point out in your story how the Black started out with the “kill the honky mfers!” but it wasn’t until the N word was used that the violence broke out. So, it was ok for Blacks to say anything and offend, but how dare the honkies say something that offends them.
Be a great time in American history to start riding people, naked, tarred, and feathered, out of town again. These conference officials are a good group to start with.
Yet more idiot “educators”. Putzes supreme. Anti-American a**holes.
