The minister of a Methodist church made national headlines after she scolded Donald Trump for injecting politics into a campaign stop.
The Rev. Faith Green Timmons came on stage and stopped Trump in the middle of his remarks at Bethel United Methodist Church.
She told him to stay focused on the water crisis and not Hillary Clinton.
I invited you here to thank us for what weve done in Flint, not give a political speech," the reverend told Mr. Trump.
Trump graciously complied with her demand.
But something doesn't pass the smell test. Consider this screen grab from the minister's Facebook page:
"We have our chance to show Donald Trump that this nation is filled with intelligent, wise black citizens of integrity many of whom live right in Flint, Michigan," she wrote. "What he will see is how we are braving a man-made catastrophe. HE WILL NOT USE US, WE will EDUCATE HIM!!!"
Well, I guess the Rev. Timmons showed Mr. Trump -- ambushing him in a House of Worship. I will give her credit for hushing up a protester who kept interrupting his remarks.
By the way, the Rev. Timmons has since deleted that Facebook posting. Hmm.
Mr. Trump showed great restraint and class as he complied with her request. And he deserves credit for at least trying to start a dialogue.
I wonder if Rev. Timmons "educated" President Obama like she did Mr. Trump?
Trump would not go to Flint and not expect to take some crap from black Democrats. He’s not stupid.
I wouldn’t set foot in that false church again. First of all, the bible speaks out against female pastors and I believe there is a reason for that from a leadership and Godly perspective that has nothing to do with pride or ego. I think her exhibition of pride and use of Jezebel style deception makes its own case in this instance.
“Did Flint Preacher Set a Trap for Trump?”
No. He went there and knew where he was going; knew the setting and audience.
People need to man up and quit whining.
Their hatred blinds them to their peoples’ plights.
What a shame. But Trump is up to 20 percent. That is incredible.
The RevRunt was just another naggger - whiner.
What a racist post...’he knew the setting and audience’...so just what are you implying...
Reading it makes it quite clear that you would know what to ‘expect’...so does that mean you wouldnt have went there.
Man up....let us know what you mean
Let us “step back” y’all.
^Pastor^ Timmons (which Cletus don’t respect) was correct in protecting the local parish anbd in redirecting Trump away from making political comments, albeit not from the pulpit.
I doubt that she was a “laying-in-wait” for him to stray off the path.
I agree that she [spit] is correct in her reigning-in of DJT. Trump should have stayed on message regarding the water use.
DJT needs to have an evangelical/XPian associate to define his message. Not his apparent shotgun approach. From my view, He could not do better than Matthew Harrison (or surrogate) of the LCMS.
It was rude to interrupt him during his speech. I doubt many pastors (or even this pastor) has done that in the past. It is rude to invite someone into your house and then chide the guest. Nevertheless I thought Trump did a good job defusing it and staying out of the trap. IMO the publicity was a net positive for Trump, for it showed him keeping his cool, not reacting but staying on script, and most of all it showed the country that he is continuing his outreach to enlarge his voting base, speaking to African American audiences and showing great deference to community leaders.

Trip Trump.
Trip Trump.
Trip Trump.
The Mantra of progressives everywhere.
Trip Trump, Trip Trump
Triptrumptriptrump
Trump, Trump, Trump.
The actual sound of Hillary’s fall down the polling stairs into the dustbin of history.
:: It was rude to interrupt him during his speech ::
I don’t think he is “giving speeches”. He is providing “food-for-thought” to the people. He is speaking ^TO^ to USA and listening to what he hears back.
vis-a-vis Hillary who seems to be a
“do as I say or get introduced to the jack-boot”
Trump is a successful industrialist. He didn’t get there by just spewing orders and not caring what his “underlings” accomplished.
Trump: If you invited me here to put words in my mouth, you picked the wrong guy, honey. So either you let me speak or I hit the road. What’s it gonna be?
That's exactly the response she intended to provoke. To his credit, Trump didn't take the bait.
The woman is a shill. What a jerko.
I’m only concerned about one thing here. His reaction. It was presidential and gracious. It was a trap but a trap in which Trump was adept at not falling for. As for this woman - I’m sure God was proud of your deception as a so-called minister(/s).
Yeah...sure...right. The piss ant sets a trap for the elephant. Ridiculous!!
And this fat pig is intelligent? She is one of the ignorant and very sick. Yes, she took advantage of Trump and she will find herself labeled as a liberal pig.
Of course she set a trap for Trump. She looked like a rude, racist fat women.
That’s exactly the response she should have gotten. Trump isn’t known to suffer fools gladly. He either shows these rectums that he’s always in control of the situation or they’ll start eating him alive.
Maybe he mollified a few people in the crowd with a softened response, but in doing so, he gave up control of HIS discourse to this duplicitous witch.
It was his speech, his platform, and his moment. Not hers. She set him up and he DID take the bait.
He should have continued to deliver the remarks he had prepared instead of letting her dictate the content of his address.
Had he done what you say the Media would have turned it into a “Trump is a racist story” and lied about what really happened to push that meme for the next two weeks. As it is it’s a non story. It won’t cost him a single black vote and may actually gain him some. Trump did the right thing.
