California legislators have approved a bill targeting cow flatulence and manure, which lawmakers blame for releasing greenhouse gases. The legislation aims to reduce methane emissions related to manure to 40 percent below 2013 levels by 2030.
Senator Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens) authored the bill, which passed shortly before the end of the legislative session. Lara agreed to a compromise that will give dairy farms more time to comply with the new regulations.
Critics have expressed concerns the new regulations will result in an increase in the price of milk from California cows. Proponents of the bill say methane emissions have a huge influence on the climate.
The legislation also calls for efforts that would significantly increase composting in order to eliminate the amount of food waste in landfills. Food waste releases methane when it breaks down.
This state Senator, Lara, is the same openly homosexual guy who tried to pass the bill that would have gutted all Christian colleges of their right to be distinctly Christian, by forcing them to accept homosexuality and transgendered people and accommodate all of their desires or they would have been subject to lawsuits. He is a real piece of work.
I read somewhere where they want to eventually extend this to humans and employ “no fart zones”, and/or “no farting between the hours of such and such”. Police officers will carry with them an electronic fart-sensing device which will work sort of like a breathalyzer, only it will be used on that other opening. Violators they warn will be summoned. Repeat offenders could serve jail time.
If Californians truly wish to reduce gas emissions due to manure, they’ll have to elect a different governor.
The cows won’t care...
Next will be human farting. They will ban broccoli and beans for human consumption.
When are they going to outlaw bean eating Mexicans? At least the cows produce something.
Agreed, but it’s actually worse than this. Many industrial landfills recover methane for use as fuel. Composting closer to the source would ensure that most of the methane would be released into the atmosphere.
The legislation also calls for efforts that would significantly increase composting in order to eliminate the amount of food waste in landfills. Food waste releases methane when it breaks down.
The canard
Not if they're pursuing a globalist/green agenda. It makes perfect sense.
How does composting reduce methane emissions? No matter where organic matter rots, it creates methane. Morons.
The loony legislature continues their lunacy, but I repeat myself.
A cow fart bill would be right up the California legislature’s alley.
It’s past time for California to split into at least two states: a leftist socialist state centered on the LA to SF corridor, and an American state for the productive, freedom loving areas.
Don’t burping and belching generate CO2?
Isn’t it time to “ban” beer and soda, as well?
Time to buy stock in a cork manufacturer!
Especially soaked corks.
Already available-—a short piece of garden hose.......
Just one more reason why we Northern Californians want to separate from California and create The State of Jefferson.
There is an easy solution: slaughter all of the cattle in the state! No cattle = no cow farts. The fact that dairy and beef prices will skyrocket is of no consequence. We MUST save the economy.
Next, we need to get HRC to introduce the elimination of all cattle in the country as the ONLY way to save the environment and stop globull warming.
(sarcasm)
