The Clinton campaign's wobbly performance over the past 72 hours has set off a rash of behind-the-scenes handwringing among professional Republicans as they confront an unnerving new possibility: What if their nominee actually wins the White House?
For months, the prevailing wisdom within GOP political circles has been that Donald Trump stands little chance to win in November and a large number of the party's consultants, fundraisers, and operatives privately preferred it that way. Though many of them are reluctant to say so in public, they argue that a Trump presidency would fracture their party, decimate the conservative movement, and wreak havoc on the global economy (not to mention their own industry).

If true, how pathetic it is to be a republican nevertrumper.

Agree. although I don't lump Ted Cruz with the “Never Trump” crowd. At least Ted Cruz had the guts to run against Trump. Bill Kristol et al are just quislings who'd rather get invited to the right dinner parties in D.C. than help their party. THEY are the ones I hope are shaking in their boots at the prospect of a Trump win.

They are worried because a Trump administration means that their 'gravy train' will be sidetracked and their money pit will dry up.
Heaven forbid that they might actually have to get a job that makes wealth rather than the present one that depends upon taking money from those who actually work and create wealth.

The Conservative Movement is dead and has been. What these elitists call “Conservatism” is anything but.
To: MarMema
I am tired of them as well and I say good, let Trump win and clean house.

they argue that a Trump presidency would fracture their party, decimate the conservative movement, and wreak havoc on the global economy (not to mention their own industry). allow someone who isn't part of the Beltway Gang into the driver's seat. The Republicans may actually have...shudder...someone who would advance an agenda beneficial to the American public! They might be called upon to vote on those matters...in the affirmative! And they would pass! And what would be the fate of the uniparty then?

This concern was always there. The plan was to run a designated loser, Jeb. The last thing the Republicans want is to be accountable.

They are “the enemy within”. I am so thankful DT has smoked them out and revealed these “Republicans” for who and what they really are and stand for.

They say this like it’s a bad thing.
Seriously though, it sounds like these guys are WAYYYY too comfortable with the status quo.
Sorry guys, you’ve had your chance. It’s time for you to leave.

Trump will stop the practice of the DC criminal pigs feeding off of the tax payer funded slop trough and they can’t have that
To: hotsteppa
Let's face it.
It's really about Republicans being afraid of the responsibility for fixing everything that Democrats broke.
Republicans cower from power. They'd rather lose and not be blamed, than take charge and risk scorn.

At least Ted Cruz had the guts to run against Trump. Lyin' Ted wanted to be POTUS. No more than that.

I’m just wondering which one of these “professional Republicans” took time to tell this to Buzzfeed.
Did they also give an interview to Cracked.com too?
